Help with CD player install. Please.
My car was broken into and my CD player (along with the ac controls and vents) was ripped out of my car. Now I want to install my new Alpine in the din behind the cup holders (97 Civic HB) so it will be less noticeable. What exactly is involved in this? Is it there any instructions for this install on the net? Ive installed plenty of car stereos, just never in a place where it wasnt meant to go. Thanks for any help.
it's do-able.... you need to mount the head unit "iso" style (like a toyota or nissan) and you're going to have to make a custom trim ring. Tear apart the center console and screw the deck in the same way the pocket is screwed in now.
yeah this is what i did when i had a civic and audio install....you have to kind of grind the lower console so it fits perfectly (at least i did on my head unit) and you will have to mount it/secure it on the side which is fine... what are you going to do w/ that hole up on top though.. put a plate and some guages? or just leave it blank? anyway install is pretty straight forward... just route the wiring harness down there, enlarge the opening a bit (i needed this for my deck to fit right), and then your good to go... when you park your car.. just press the cupholder lid.. it will pop up and hide your deck ... they wont see it unless their REALLY looking for it.. since the cup holder lid will be in the up position and in front of the head unit
Sweet. At least its do-able. Im going to put my oil pressure and A/F gauges up there. Im bored with the dash bezle. Thanks for the input.
