does it turn off or does the sound turn off and the radio stay on?

make sure you have a good ground and power going into it. i know the alpines need a good ground and power source.

The other thing I would look for is a short, on one or more of the speakers or speaker wires, make sure the speaker term. are not touching the chassis of the car, [a common problem when installing some aftermarket speakers in Honda/Acuras] 94

My head did this when i connected the remote wire from the amp to the power wire in the headunit. Any time i hit a bump the deck cut off, now that i unhooked it everthing is fine just no bass.

From Carreview.com
Reviewed by: bluzapper
Year: 2004
Model: cda-9851
Price Paid: $302 at best buy

Summary:
Alpine need I say more. I am very disappointed...I owned an alpine cd player for the last 3 years and had absolutely 0 problems. The moterized face worked flawlessly and was never in question on weather or not it would turn on. This new line of alpine has seriously shaken my confedence in alpine as a whole. Since I purchased this player I have had to return and exchange twice...first due to the motorized face stopped working...the second time because it would turn off from time to time and the face would only work sometimes....and i would have to take the plate off wait a few minutes and try again. I am installing my third 9851 tonight ...I hope third times the charm.

Strengths:
Sound quality and versatility

Weaknesses:
Usage of this product proved to be a chore....very criptive menu's

THE POWER</TD></TR></TABLE> If you mean the HU turns off, like when you turn off the ign., [no lights or anything on on the HU] but memory for the clock and radio presets are still good, then there is a problem with power on the acc., [red wire to the HU]

If you mean no sound, but the HU still has lights and a read out on the face plate, it may be a short in a speaker or speaker wire and the HUs protection circuits are kicking in.

I you mean no sound and/or no read out on the face plate, and you lose the clock and radio pre sets, there is a problem with power on the HUs constant power, yellow, this is a common problem when todays "high power" HU get there constant power from the stock radio harness, [ this will only happen if you are using the HUs internal amp]

Which one of the above is it, in your case. 94
