first even If i wasn't a dealer I still wouldn't buy anything that does not come with a manufactor warrentty. I like the feeling of haveing my product covered if something was to go wrong with it. Everyone knows electronics are not 100% reliable. Especialy in car audio. So take it how you want to. Let the consumer decided how he wants to spend there money. You can quote this how ever you want. To the op, hey if you buy the sub off line from a dealer and it does not have serial number give mtx a email. I heard that they have a nice reward for tips.

Lol...MTX police To tell you the truth I don't even know where my warranty cards are. Some products I've bought came with a 3 month extended warranty if you register the product. I didn't even bother with it. I know I'm lazy But then I take care of the stuff I own...

well guys i have bought some car audio equipment from ebay and from my experience i never had any problems with them. but thats just me everyone else can decide for theirself if they rather buy it from an authorized dealer and have a warranty. so lets get back on the subject guys.

i was thinking about type R's but i heared they sound better in a ported box. so i want something sealed cause of the space in my car. anyone else have any ideas on a SQL 400 rms 12 inch subs that would sound good in a sealed enclosure?

Check out CDT Audio subs. They have subs made specifically for small enclosures. Although, I don't know what they're like, but I know CDT Audio makes quality and sq stuff.

You can look at Adire Brahma sub. Can't go wrong with that one...I believe it requires only about 1.5 ft^3 for optimal sound quality. It is a 600 wrms sub if it's not a problem.

The one I'm going after myself right now is the Infinity Kappa Perfect 12d VQ. I had an older 10" version and it sounded really good. The new one is even better.

I thought they were both authorized, since CarDomain is a big name store. But oh well, it's even a bigger rip off now.

I took another look at these CDT subs and 12 inchers are all 800 wrms. It is more than you wanted. I don't know how good or bad they are since I never saw a single review of them. But based on this company's reputation, I wouldn't be afraid to buy one. Here is their page: http://www.cdtaudio.com/es_sq_subs.htm

I think my friend used to have a pair of these MTX's. My Kappa sounded cleaner, and not that much weaker. Go for the new Kappa, man...check out this awesome review: http://www.caraudiomag.com/tes...ofer/

And they can be had for about $320 (both + shipping) on ebay

You need a lesson in economics.

Manufacturers want to build relationships with the mom and pop shops. This allows an "artificially" inflated price. Discounts are given to volume buyers. The manufacturer really wants nothing to do with the end user. That's the job of the dealer.

The reason they care about authorized vs non authorized is to control the end selling price for there product. If they start allowing sales to non authorized dealers who undercut the local seller, the local seller will no longer carry there product. An internet dealer could buy in larger volume more easily they have a larger customer base. Thus forcing the price down, I dont think most manufacturers are ready for this yet.

Didn't you hear all the car salesmen whine when GM wanted to offer cars on there own website at full MSRP? Car salesmen were pissed because they know they can sell cars for more then MSRP and that cuts into there profits. Somehow they conviced the government to step in an stop GM. IMO that's crazy.

I'll buy off the internet, the way I see it all the jobs are going overseas why should the companies be the only ones to benifit from slave labor.

It will give you a 3 dB advantage over one sub of equal power of the 2. How much trunk space you're willing to sacrifice? 'Cause if you don't give enough space to your subs, they will sound average or just "ok". And you'll go deaf with one 400 wrms sub if you crank it up all the time, so don't worry about that

I would like to compare but i would like to have both subs side by side and both in a custom enclosure to their spec. And test them in the same car. I heard both and both sound good. But the factor of power, tuning, cabin gain of the car and such makes it hard to say which one. If any one here can just come right out and say this one is the top dog is b.s. There is no way. And they are using the good ole fashion butt dyno. The only way to say which one is the king is to do a side by side test. Which I highly doubt any here has except for a few-fcm,suspended hatch,me and a couple more. Both are good name subs. You can't go wrong on which one you choose. Both have been in the game a long time. I not going to search across the net and look at subs that I nevered used and say hey this one would work and is great. I'll point out something that I use and can vouch for. Your gonna get biased responces from what people use, not acurate info on how the sub would really sound. What sounds good in one car is not going to sound the same in anothor car. And people are running diffrent setups.

Now the splinter subs, I can't say. I haven't tried them or even heard of them. I don't see myself using them anytime soon. But if the company will stand by their product. go for it. If not just turn around and sell it if its not up to par and try again.
