Front stage selections (hu,comps,amp)
Hey guys Im looking to put together a decent front stage. I was looking at the RE XXX 6.5 comps, an Alpine PDX 2.150 amp, and an Alpine CDA 117 hu to replace my current Alpine that does not have USB input. Also I figure the 4v pre outs will be a good upgrade over 2v. Do you think this is a decent set up for the money or should I look at other items.

Nice head unit. I've used RE's before, they're good. Have u checked out Focal or Morel speakers?
Are there any other amps that you have considered instead of the PDX?

Those re's need ALOT of power to perform. Kippel tested them months ago and were like 80db efficient which sucks.
Headunit and amp are cool. You can get more power and a better crossover from a sundown amp at a similar price point. For components, i'd get the hertz eskl http://www.woofersetc.com/p-9625-esk...nt-system.aspx

i'm with Edzy, the ESK are amazing, they tend to be a little bright. HAT imagine components are some of the best i've heard for under 250 bucks. also...take a look at the rainbow SLC components. just got a set in my hands today and they are amazing. both the rainbow and HAT speakers tend to have a more mellow "laid back" sound.

Cool thanks for the suggestions. Ill look at those mentioned. I might end up making fiberglass door pods, I did some for my old CDTs and it turned out nice.

those comps aren't efficient. you need mucho power and sound deadening in the doors. Like 250-300 rms a side for those comps to shine. you will clip the **** out of any smaller amp if you push them hard at all.
the deck is nice. so are the comps, and the amp. but the amp simply isnt enough.
