EX radio, need help!
I was recently given a 2000 civic ex radio for free... Now, my EG hatch is a 92 CX, so my question is, would the radio work? It fits in the empty console and the antenna wire plugs in, but the harness doesn't fit...do they make adaptors or anything like that? let me know if it will or won't work...or if anyone has one...

You'll need the reverse harness for the new deck, and a regular wiring harness for your vehicle.
Connect them together, matching color to color, and it'll be plug & play.
Good luck mounting that deck in your car though. That newer radio ISO mounts, whereas the radio in your '92 mounted with a bracket off the bottom/rear of the radio if I remember right... Unless you can fab up a bracket to mount it, the deck will slide out at you when you take off...

i think that radio will require you to enter a sucurity code to use it. Mabey some one else can verfy that... If you have the code you should be all good. Just do a google search to find the adaptor harness.
You can also hardwire the HU in if you have the plug that goes in it the back.

As far as parts go, you'll need a 71-1721 and a 70-1720.

Re: (B18C_EJ8)
great, thanks...so, the 70-1720 is the reverse harness that plugs into my existing harness for my 92 civic? in that case, i just shorten and solder or crimp the wires from the 2000 to the 70-1720, right?

Re: (gotrice16)
okay, i soldered and heat shrank the harnesses...i plugged in the radio, antenna wire, and i put in the unlock code...only problem is, the radio didnt make any sound!
i put in a CD, and turned the volume all the way up...nothing...
i think that when the idiot i bought my car from ripped the stock radio out, the wires may have shorted the speakers because the climate control unit needed to be replaced due to a short...any advice? im pretty sure that i have speakers, as he said he didnt remove them..

Let's not be "pretty sure" here... It's easy to check for speakers...
Go outside & come back & tell us if there's speakers in all four factory locations... Pull the grilles off the fronts and open the trunk & look up at the rear deck...
Edit: Didn't see you have a CX hatch... So, see below.

There are no rear speakers in your Cx. Make sure your all wired correctly and that the fader is set toward the front. Also I would check the connections inside your front doors.

Re: (White Smoke)
a wire broke when the radio was ripped out, and upon further inspection of the speakers with a 9v battery, the left front speaker was blown...a quick drive over to appearance audio solved my speaker problem, and i wired them and voila! sound!!!! good sound, too!
not bad for a free radio~!
