Wierd dome light problem! I open the doors...no light. I click the alarm key...light comes on then goes off after inserting the key or 5 min. Why wont it work when i open the door? The light that says the door is open, in the dash, works just fine but the dome light wont come on with it. Any suggestions?

 

did you check your light switch on the dome light, on my 95 accord, there are 3 diff settings, off all of the time, on when the doors open, and on all of the time

 

Yep the switch is good to go

 

Probably the switch in the door jamb is stuck down. Pull it out and see if the light comes on.

My guess is this isn't going to be it if the light on the dash works fine. Is the alarm that's installed an aftermarket, or is it a factory setup?

 

Aftermarket, Viper Alarm...and no it wasnt the door switch

 

I believe your domelight was hooked up as "domelight supervision" which means it comes on when you insert/remove your keys. You might have left out a wire that keeps the light on or maybe the alarm you have does not have that feature to keep the light on when the door(s) are open.
