do i need a cap?
ok in my type s im gonna have an audiobahn a8000t amp runnin at 2 ohms, its rated at 800rms and 1600 peak, the true power will be a lil less than that but i bought a 1.0 farad cap.
would an rsx's alternator be able to handle that or did i make a stupid noob mistake
this is the first audio related upgrade ive done to my car besides my new head unit so i obviously dont know much and am curious if i wasted my money

You didn't make a noob mistake. I dont know much about that alternator so maybe someone else can fill you in. A cap is a good addition.
I= C*dv/dt I'll let you do all the math.
I try my hardest to stay out of the cap debates because 95% of the people don't know how to use them correctly.
I'm still waiting for someone to tell me how they are an additional load on the electrical system. I like to share info but it will cost you some effort. Nothing is free in life.

Yes get a cap, just make sure it's installed properly. IMO if installing amp/s that have an RMS rating above 500W, you should upgrade the alt., however unless you are cranking the snot out of it all day long, and you install the cap, you should be OK, do this, take the car to a batt. shop and have them check the system, the will tell you what the output of the alt. is, [most will do this for free] and then 6mo. or a year from now go back and check it again, if there is a significant drop in the output of the alt., you may want to replace it with a bigger one.
