Default Compustar remote problems

Well i bought a compustar unit off my friend for $100.

Model: Compustar 2WFMR (Two way FM remote)

Sometimes my remote will act up and start to play a 'song'?? Usually happens when i try to arm or disarm the vehicle. I have to wait until the 'song' ends before i can go ahead and arm/disarm the car. Does this mean the battery is about to die?

Also, can i shut off the shock sensor or adjust is to be less sensitive. This morning a school bus drove by my house and set off my alarm......thats ridiculous.

Anyways, any help would be appreciated.

Sidenote: My LCD screen doesn't work so i cant tell what functions are on or off. I guess thats what i get for $100.

Thanks.

It sounds like the remote is powering up, try this, remove the batt. wait a sec. then replace the batt. if the sound you hear is the same, then it could be a low batt. or more then likely a poor connection of the batt., is the batt. loose in it's spot, try replacing the batt. with a new one, [use a good quality batt.] and make sure it is a snug fit, [terminals in remote make good solid contact with the batt.] I have run into this once or twice all I did was "bend" the batt. term at the bottom of the remote "out" a little so it made better contact with the batt.
The Impact sen. adjustment in right on the impact sen. itself, FYI very small adjustments will make a diff. it is a two stage impact sen., [warn a way, soft impact and full alarming on hard impact.
BTW 2WFMR is the model number of the remote , the impact sen, adjustment is the same on all models http://www.staub.ca/tech/Manua...l.pdf to check the sensitivity, arm the alarm, wait 15-20 sec. then "tap" windshield with side of fist, start softly and get harder till the alarm triggers "warn a way" then harder till alarm goes into full alarm mode, don't forget. you will not be able to transmit disarm untill alarm has stopped paging the remote, it will take a few sec., also the first disarm comand the alarm "sees" will only turn off the siren, you will have the disarm a second time to disarm the alarm. 94
