Default component speaker installation

so the polk 6.5 components arrive today, to replace my factory integra component speakers.
Question about installation. I didnt get a good look at the factory setup, but there is a seperate plug for the woofer and the tweeter. I dont remember seeing a crossover behind the door panel. And I dont have a wiring diagram. So, I dont know if theres a crossover somewhere else. So basicaly, should I use the factory tweeter wiring? Or just leave that plug alone? Whats the cleanest way to install in place of the factory setup?

The stock "x-over" will be a cap on the stock tweeter, I would use all new wiring, leave the stock wiring in place. 94

Got it. Whats the best place to mount the new x-over? And if its adjustable, whats the best setting?

NEvermind, got em all installed. Took a couple of hours, but it was my first time dealing with component speakers. Seems easy now. The polk 6.5 component speakers sound AWESOME! And thats with a stock head unit. The sound deadening helped out a lot. I could tell by listening to the sound quality difference with the stock speakers. So, tomorow im installing some kicker 6x9s in the back.

Why are you using 6X9s?
And unless you have a sedan, I know they will not fit without modification.

I would skip the rear speakers and just put a sub in the trunk. Never been a fan of rear speakers in a car, just pulls the sound stage back and distracts from you front stage.

It is a sedan. Yeah, i had to fade up 3 clicks cause the sound was getting lost a little bit. But they do add some nice fill. If I fade up all way to the front the sound is missing something, the rears make it better, and add some bass. Probably, the last thing I will do is a 6 inch bazooka tube in the trunk for some added bass.

I would recommend actually upgrading the hu to either a clarion or an alpine unit before you do the rear speakers.

skip the rears. spend the money on a good sub. also if youre not using a front amp you need one. once you have the front stage set up and tune in the sub you wont even need back speakers.

If you don't listen to your music to the point where you are over driving your hu, you don't need an amp...

The idea is that in the future I will get a HU capable of tuning the system more, that way I can just have the bass going to the rears.

If you feel that there is something "missing" when you fade it all the way to the front, you should try demo-ing a car that is professionally tuned. I myself have never done it, but I owned an Alpine CDA-9887 and the Imprint kit for it, and the difference is amazing. You may just be missing the correct time-alignment for your listening position, which Imprint can correct. Some swear by it, others don't like it, but Imprint worked very well for me.

I have a quick question about this if nobody minds...Im installing component speakers with new wiring too and i was wondering how you get the wires from the door to the inside of the car...I know to run it like the other wires are ran but do you have to dissconnect the terminal inside the door? Or are the holes with no wires just totally empty and you can just slide a wire through?

There are 2 things you can do, you can get the pins, [male and female] to fit the plugs and terminate them to the new speaker wire and use two of the empty spots.

If you just want to run the wire, you will have to drill out two side by side empty pin holes into one big enough to run the speaker lead through. 94
