I don't need no TV in my car, I watch the **** at home yo.

Anyway I just need to upgrade my stock stuff to some CD/MP3 player, and good speakers, care less about features, quality is what counts.

Function over Fashion.

You can get a nice deck for under $200. Check Crutchifield.com. They include the install kit, instructions and wiring harness specific for your car. They're service, return policy and tech support is the best. Shipping is the fastest in the business.

I have a profile 50wx4 rms amp and love it. They're around $130

Speaker - many choices here. Check what fits your car for an easy install. I don't work for Crutchfield but have bought lots of stuff there. The web site will tell what fits your car. They include wire harness for easy plug and play. Check their Outlet Store and Scratch and Dent for more savings.

Don't forget wiring kit and patch cords if you go the amp route.

In addition I have added a kenwood eq to my system. Bought on EBAY for $50 Fits perfect in the dash kit supplied by, you know (Crutchfield). People swear I spent $1000's on stereo stuff yet I'm under $500, although I have not replaced my front speakers yet.

There's nothing wrong with spending $1000's of dollars like these competition stereo folks who spend your budget on wiring alone EXCEPT if that's not what you want. $700 will get you a nice everyday system.

for 700 you could do plenty.
we could say
4 ch. crossfire, or Rockford amp
midrange head unit (pioneer, kenwood ect.)
amp kit (stinger makes good quality, simple kits)
and 4 interior speakers (also crossfire, good quality for the price)

Alpine CDA-9807 deck - 239.00
MB Quart RSC 216 components - 169.00 (x2)
JL Audio 300/4 amp - 379.00
Total $956.00

That is what it is going to cost you for some good stuff that will sound very nice. I'm sure you could find it cheaper from ebay or something.

All these prices were taken from http://www.onlinecarstereo.com

Now we're talking.

Thanks for all your replys, that's what I was looking for.
I can care less if people spend $2-3K on stereo equipment, to each his own

I'm just looking for a nice stereo upgrade for my daily driver.

I'm pretty new at this so would you guys suggest using an amp just to support the speakers, if I don't plan on using the subs?

want subs and room in the trunk....

http://www.sounddomain.com/mem...l.jpg

That's what I did for a friend....two ID8v3's - under 35lbs and it hits pretty damn hard for two 8's....

Right now I have just horns and mids in my car, and it's almost enough to keep me happy...

You should really think about getting subs even if you are not that into bass. If you get subs your system will sound so much cleaner when you want to crank it because you will have basically no bass distortion in you speakers.

I would drop the rears and use that 169 to buy a sub. Then build a box. Bridge two channels from the amp to the sub. I ran a setup like that while I was saving for my sub amp.

They don't. The one that does play MP3, you'll have to pay $60 more but you get other features too.
