Default Burning Headunit! HELP

Hey fellow HTers,

well i have been in germany for the past month and while i was away my parents decided to fix the climtae control in my car for me. It's now fixed, but the problem is that for some reason the headunit is burning hot. My friend suggested that wires might be touching or something, and I don't want anything to happen to my car, what do you suggest i do?

thanks

What type of head unit is it? And just pull it out and check all the wires and make sure that you have the correct wiring harness. Let us know what happens.

If they fixed your climate controls. yes, they have pinched a speaker lead,[I bet] the alpine can take a short for a short time, and it has a thermo switch but I wouldn't play it till its fixed, you can blow a output IC.

hope this helps. 94

thanks fcm, i was looking for some sort of diagnosis to look for. I just hope they don't charge me for taking apart the dash and what not, but they are pretty good about that. I will call them up today. again thanks for the helpful reply

make sure none of the wiring was touched. (i.e. a relay placed on the power wire that'll send the power in too hot)
they might've just shorted the deck, too.

i checked it out, it actually looks pretty clean. they had rewired my ground to the actual chasis, because i was too lazy and just had it on the closest piece of metal.

everythings in running condition, i guess the problem was just that it was sitting in the sun and it must have overheated or something, because my dad had been running around in the car all day.
