Default Building a subbox question

Hello,

I am going to build my own box but I am curious as to what the pros use to cut the woofer hole in the box...do they have some kind of special setup or do they just free hand it with a jigsaw?

Also I am going to use a Rockford 10" sub...any idea how many cubic feet my box should be and is there any benifit to any shape over the other? I am planning on making a sealed box.

Schwinn

just use a jigsaw. Most of the manufacturers put a circle in the box that you can trace to get the exact size. most of the rf 10" subs need around 3/4 cubic feet of volume for proper operation check their website www.rockfordfosgate.com to be sure though. there are some difference in box shapes, some are less prone to resonance than others. Here's a manual on box-building http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/rftec...enclosures.pdf . Hope this helps
