Default Starting out...

I am starting out with putting a little stereo together. I want something with a little bit of bass. Something that will thump a little. I don't want to spend a lot of money on the system though. What do you guys recommend. I have a CRX.

If you are looking for just an amp/sub combo i would go with either a single 10 or 12 in a sealed box. You could get a Kicker Comp or Comp VR for a fairly reasonable price and throw it into a small(1.0-1.75 ft^3) box and get a mono or stereo bridgable amplifier (Fosgate Punch s200,s300,m200).

These combos will hit suprisingly well and will offer very little drain on your wallet or electrical system.

These are just some examples of combos which I and my friends have done. Check around and find a combo which meets your desired budget. When you size the amp to the subwoofer try and match the RMS power of the amp at a specific Ohm rating to the RMS power of a certain sub with the same impedance(usually 2,4,8 Ohm or if it has Dual Voice Coils then a 2 ohm DVC could be 1,2,4 ohms or a 4 ohm DVC could be 2,4,8 ohms)

Hope i helped
