Building a custom box
sup everyone.
after having these 2 12's and an amp sitting in my room for about a good 3 months, i've finally found the time to go ahead and make my box.
the airspace for each speaker says that it is supposed to be 1.5 cubic ft. simple math brings that to a minimun of 3 cubic feet for the box. here is my question, do you recommend that i separate the box on the inside (by almost making two 1.5 cubic ft. boxes) or should i just make one big box? my amp and sub combo isn't anything too serious and its not pushing any real wattage (i think the amp is only 300W).
i've heard that you only need to separate the boxes if you plan on running 2 amps, but i'm no audio guru.
thanks in advance for your help.

If the speaker needs 1.5 cu feet of airspace, why would you think that it would work in a 3 cu ft box? Yes you need the divider.</TD></TR></TABLE>He is using simple logic there. If 1 speaker requires 1.5 cu feet, logic would say that 2 speakers would be fine in a 3 cu ft box. I always divide my boxes, so I would suggest it.

Re: Building a custom box (fcm)
Its good to use a divider if the subs are being run in stereo, it keeps cross talk from happing. If the box is going to be used as a mono box you can get away with out the divider. But both speakers need to be getting the same frq and power, you should be using one amp on the subs.

Insignia IS-CSPP101. They're nothing special, just a little package deal that Best Buy was selling. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/ol...98347. i pretty much just needed something to replace my 2 10" kicker comps that i got for free about a year ago (possibly longer). as of right now, although i'm realistically rockin 2 10's, technically i only have about .5 10's cause one is bown and the other is half blown. since i didn't pay for them, i cant really complain; they served their purpose for as long as i had them. this time around though, since i'm buying (or bought), i decided against foam cone woofers.

Re: Building a custom box (j-spec_cc2)
Sorry I can find no info on the subs or the amp other then what Best Buy gives, and I find it hard to believe an amp that makes 2x120W RMS into 4 ohms is somehow 1x360W RMS into 4 ohms, and as the subs are 150W continuous you would need a 1x300W RMS amp to drive 2 of them, also most 2ch amps are not stable below 4 ohms when bridged.
If the subs are 4 ohm subs they can be wired for 2 or 8 ohms, you would have to put a divider in the box and run the amp in it's 2ch mode, [2x120W RMS] for it to work reasonably well. 94
