Big problems
Alright... I got my subs installed and was rather pleased finally get them done... Fiberglass box took forever... Well, I got a couple problems... Before I had one 10 and now I got two of them ... Honestly, this sealed box is no louder, and is worse sound quality than my vtec box with one 10 in it before... It sounds good, and the waves seem to travel farther outside the car, which is actually a bad thing...COPS... Plus, my trunk used to rattle a little on good thumps... Now it rattles all the time and dynamat isnt cheap! The Vtec box had the port firing forwards with the box wedged between the walls... Honestly, the fiberglass is alot of eye candy, but I dont know whether its really worth it for me.... Its a 2v1 concept, rattle, appearance, and the list goes on... Should I drop the box and extra sub and invest in some component speakers(have a smaller amp too), or throw my other sub along with my extra amp in my other car, or should I leave the fiberglass box(also means I need to make a new false floor for the unused floor part), or should I do something else? P.S. I am not giving the sub away..... RF HX2 10" subs btw...
I did do the install myself.... Rather happy with the install too.... Just not the added rattle to the trunk.... All my friends say it sounds awesome, but I dont like the fact you could stand 50 ft behind the car and hear it rattling.
To hell with dynamat. Do a search for raamatt, half the price. Are you sure that the box has the correct volume for your subs? What sub are they, and what amp are you using?
Edit: What is a vtec box?

Ya, I am pretty sure my box has the right airspace... I made it, filled it with water and converted gallons into ft^3 just to make sure I was about right... Within .1 ft^3 of what I need... RF PUNCH HX2 10"... American Pro 1200w 2ch...
And, a vtec box is a style of transmission line box that is like a ported box in that it has a port, but more like those BOSE commercials where they show the tubing the sound goes through before it comes out of the box... For a V-tec box, imagine a long rectangle as a top view.... Now put your sub off center a little ways.... Now, Make a L touching the front of the bx with the short end and the long end extending across just beyond the sub, but not all the way to the wall... There should be about a 3-4" gap behind the L for the 'tubing'... If you draw it out and figure what you got... It is a huge port that wraps around the outside of the box and fires at the same place as the sub.... Believe me, these sounds better than anything I have heard so far... I have built about 200 boxes... Sealed, ported, vtec, and even 3 bandpass boxes... So far, best sound is vtec... In my opinion... I listen to alot of rock... They bump hard and sound good when just hitting low strings on a bass guitar... So, they work for whatever your poison really well... Plus, when you aim them forwards you get all the sound, but not as much rattle... And yes, my favorite activity with one is taking a grocery bag, paper... and inserting it into the port... Its funny to see a bag shredded in 10 sec or less.. Just by air...
