when you go to a concert, do face away from the stage, or towards it?

front.

Your main focus as far as sound stage should be the front speakers. Some high end car audio installs don't even use rear speakers. If they do, it's referred to simply as "rear fill". For this reason, separates should not be necessary for the back. A decent 2-way 6.5" speaker will do fine.

I agree. Actually I think eually good speakers in the front and rear mess with the sound. You want better quality up front.

thanks for the tips guys. i just finished installing them. but the better speakers were too deep to fit in the front so i just ended up sticking the better ones in the back and the smaller ones in the front. it was a pain trying to fit them through those holes

you are going to have to modify the basket that fits in the front door panels. either that, or buy speakers that aren't as deep. my boston acoustics were too deep and i had to just modify the plastic basket to make them fit correctly. and like everyone (or most everyone) said, you want the better speakers up front. why have all the good sound in the back? you want it as close to you as possible. that's why i have an amp powering my front components, not my back. the back is just filller, like someone else said earlier.

yeah i would've chopped up that plastic bracket but i didn't have a saw. i'll borrow one and modify it. sounds like it'll be worth it

I ended up cutting off the end of the plastic basket when I installed Kappas in my car.

I Think the only speakers that fit in any Honda without cutting the back of those baskets off are el cheapo's (IE> profiles) or Pioneer 6.5s... make sense since pioneer makes most of the factory speakers anyhow.

seriously if you just have wire cutter you can cut the basket. just take it out at the part where it has the air vents. i used a jig saw and just chopped the bastard up. You will definently notice a difference with the better speakers up front.
