what exactly is a battery backup? also a hood pin switch? looking to add more security this weekend.

 

A battery backup will keep supplying power to a car alarm (and thus siren) in the event that the battery is pulled, for instance by a car thief/vandal. If armed, the moment the battery is pulled the alarm will blare.

A hood pin switch goes a step before this. Honda hoods are generally easy to open from the outside, and this detects when the hood is raised up, such as when stealing under-hood items or looking to disable the alarm.

Both are great devices that should be installed in virtually every alarm install. Have you seen the "How-To: Car Security" guide yet?

 

no i have not but i will be busy this weekend they both sound good but im also doing cut off switches. any other security suggestion anyone else has
