Default Aux input problem

I bought one of those pie aux input adapters for my 98 prelude. Nothing is happening with it though. Even with my mp3 player on, I can't get the headunit to respond.

There is this ground wire part of the unit. Do i just tape it to the brace that sorta hold up the dash in the middle? Any suggestions would be very appreciated.

Where did you get the adapter from?

Did it not come with install instructions?

A ground wire should have a ring terminal crimped, [and soldered] to it, and then and existing nut or bolt should be used to "ground" it to the cars chassis, the metal sub frame of the dash is a good ground point, the closer to the cars floor pan the ring terminal is connected to, the better. 94

Got it from Ebay. The install instructions just show where each plugs mates up. Doesn't even have the ground wire mentioned. The ground is just a bunch of fine wires part of a wire, no ring terminal.

I assume you have the HON-AUX with the 8pin din adapter?

There should be no ground lead, no stray leads of any kind. 94

I do have the 8-pin. Well, there's two parts two it. The plug coming directly from the aux input unit is a 14-pin. There's another cable, 14-8pin that acts as an adapter. The ground wire stems from the main 14-pin plug.

It may be a cheaper aux adapter that doesn't ground internally.

You can either splice that ground wire from the adapter into the head unit's ground or make your own with a ring terminal and a self tapping screw... Or just use one of the mounting screws for the factory deck and forget the ring terminal.

What happens if you plug in the adapter, then hold that black wire from the adapter to a ground (metal in the dash)??

Nothing happens if I do that. I'm not even sure what is supposed to be done at the headunit to get this to work. Push the cd button?

Yes you must push the mode or CD changer button. 94
