Default Audio Advice Needed

I have a friend who wants a good system but does not have mountains of cash to spend on it. She doesn't want subs so basically what i am asking is What speakers and decks produce quality performance that are reasonably priced?

i'd say get a nice brand name deck that produces 40x4 watts. and some components preferably, infinity, polk, pioneer, alpine, kenwook, etc.

go with infiniti reference speakers....go with the component setup if you can afford it. But for the best priced speakers the infiniti are the best priced. Head unit....umm pioneer is good priced. Alpine is expensive and Sony doesnt perform that well

I agree with the above. While Alpine does make some great units, I wouldln't put them in the budget category. I have had good success with some of the lower end Kenwood and Pioneer heads.

Infinity References are also a good bang-for the buck lineup. Polk also make some nice speakers. Iwould suggest you go look over at Circuit City, Good Guys, etc and check out what they have. They tend to carry some good entry level items. Most important thing is to listen to them side by side in a setup similar to what you will have in your car...then let your ears and your wallet decide.
