I just bought a used Acura cassette player. How do you go about getting the anti theft code? Do you have to go ot the dealership or is their a way around it?

 

why dont you ask the person you bought it off? you could try the dealer too.

 

You need to pull the stereo out of the car and take it to the dealer so they can get the serial # and a bunch of other #'s off of it. If you don't know how to pull the deck, have your local stereo shop pull it for you, they're usually cheaper than having the dealer remove and re-install it. but a honda / acura dealer is the only place to get the code

 

ask the guy you bought it from for the code...and his VIN number and try calling the dealer on the phone.. some dealers will give it over the phone w/ these 2 numbers (number from radio and VIN #).. others will not..

I am not sure the acura dealer will give you the code since the number on the stereo is not going to match the VIN # of your car and the car its supposed to be installed in on their computer...

 

If Acura tries to pull the code for you I think they're gonna charge you.

 

Went to Honda dealership today. I got my code for my Acura radio in 5 minutes
at no charge.

 

Glad to hear, but you could have just removed that fuse from the fuse box
