Default Amp Mounting --Where?/

I just ordered my system yesterday and am trying to get an idea of where people are mounting their amps in their 06 Si's. What about crossovers?

I know that it takes a little creativity sometimes, as the Si doesn't lend itself to much room in the first place. I just wanted to get an idea from others who have installed amps, subs, speakers, crossovers, etc.

Here is what I ordered :

- Boston Pro60 components (front)
- Boston SX65 coaxial (rear deck)
- Boston SPG-555 2 ohm Sub
- Boston GT-24 2 Channel
- Boston GT-28 2 Channel

I figure the amps will probably give me the most trouble (one is 18" wide, the other 21"'). Any ideas or opinions are appreciated.

If you can fit them under the seats that is the best place.

on my gsr integra, i put the amp in the trunk on the back of the passenger rear seat, and the crossovers i just ziptied up inside the door and wired the speaker/tweater from there.

Goodluck.

Your aren't talking about under the driver and passenger seats are you? That space is TINY. I am thinking of taking out spare tire and building an amp rack in the spare tire wheel well. These amps are pretty big......any other ideas?

I mounted almost anything I can on the box.

More will be on the box later, fuse holders, wiring, etc.

Very nice. How does it play? I have heard that mounting amps, crossovers, eq, etc on the sub box can cause problems (from the vibration)? If it seems to be working for you, I might give it a thought. I was poking around in my car tonight and was thinking maybe removing the spare and building an amp rack in the spare wheel well. I am torn because I want to keep SOME trunk space.....but that may just be wishful thinking with what I bought

PS> what size cap is that?

This is a new setup with equipment from my previous car, they sound great before and I hope the sound even better in a well sound deadening car. I've been mounting amps on my subwoofer boxes for years and they work find. The power cap is a 1.5.

I wouldn't mount my amp on the box because of the vibrations.

I normally mount them on my back of the rear seats.

Although mounting amps to a sub box is an option, it would be the last option I would use, I have seen amps damaged by doing so.
The back of the seat works well.
Your idea of using the spare tire well would work, but I would use it for the subs and build an "amp rack" in front of it, [between seat and "spare tire well sub floor"]. 94

Yup, another disadvantage with mounting them on the box is theives, they just grab the box and get everything.

Love the opinions and pictures....keep'em coming.

I would love to see any pics of entire system setups.......or maybe a link to some other creative setups. I don't know when my stuff in coming in (probably in a week or two) so I have some time to plan everything out.

Very nice. Are these pics from an 06-07 Si? The first one kind of looks like the Si trunk.....but the last one doesn't. Was all that stuff built into the spare well? I can't quite tell from the angle.

Nope, a 94 sol. I was just giving you an idea of what can be done in the spare well

Yes, fiberglassed and screwed in. When I actually removed it it took me 30mins

The false floor was actually more sturdy than the stock floor too

I sell this stuff for a living and install most of my own gear. As a result I am very picky. I was just not happy with how the amps sounded at all, even bridged to some boston Z6's running off an Eclipse 8053 HU. I've even tried them in customers cars, and while they loved it, neither I nor my coworkers were impressed at all.

That being said, I love my GT24 running my G5 sub, I still have it in the car infact. My only complaint with it is that the bass **** has very little adjustment; that matched with no sub control in pro mode on my 8053 is kind of annoying

I also don't like the pro series speakers

The opinions are appreciated. I will have to see how they sound when I put them in. I am still a novice at the whole car stereo thing, so I would imagine that this setup will work for me.

What's your take on the SPG-555? There's not a whole lot of reviews and opinions on it out on the web. And would you recommend a sealed or ported box? I am partial to sealed, but would like your feedback.

Where do you work? I am from Auburn, WA.

I work in the magnolia audio video in everett

The spg is an odd woofer. I prefer my G5 over the spg. Better overall sound quality imo

if you want a "steal me system" mount everything to the box it wont cause problems from vibration as far as what i do back of the seats always

I think what he was trying to say is "Thieves are able to steal a system that is bolted entirely to the box way easier and faster than if you have your amps mounted elsewhere."

I know what he was trying to say, it's just his methods of getting there were questionable

Hey misanthropist, that is a clean install! Where'd you get that screen thingy that covers the sub and lets the air through, and what is it called? You can't even tell it's not stock carpeting from the top...very nice.

And what is everyone doing when they are removing their spare? Making sure they have AAA or what? I took mine out of my CRX for the weight savings but after having to use my girlfriends in the middle of nowhere I don't really want to take it out... but damn that looks clean, and you get all your trunk space.

Not all, I lost about 3 inches

The screen thing is just black mesh grill. Personally I don't have triple A, I've pretty much said expletive it. I leave my lug nut key at home anyways
