let me first start off saying that anyone who is shocked by bassislife's post is in for a rude awakening. rcurley55 had a link that was a great example of his stupitity. bassislife always posts about stuff like this and it doesnt surprise me at all. as some of u sit there and flame him, i would have to agree with him in some way and say that alpine isnt as great as people make it to be.

i feel that the processing in all the mid-low end decks of alpine sound like trash. some of u maybe do not know that some of the new kenwoods have burr brown 24bit convertors. and built in eq's, the price on them are about same as the mid level alpines. i have compared them myself in person and i must say for a basic listener(someone that wants something good but not into and all that extra junk) i would choose the kenwood over the alpine in sound quality. some of u may disagree, but rememeber that this is entirely my opinion.

 

I never really understood why alpine is so good. How is it better than lets say, a pioneer 8600?

 

Anyone that buys a "brand" instead of a stereo is an idiot IMO. While Alpine makes some nice decks I have seen better.

If I was looking for a stereo I would shop for what is in my price range from all the major manufacturers and then decide which is best. If any of them sucked they wouldn't be in business.

i agree with everything u say but wut the bold part. there are lots of shitty generic brands that are still in buisness.

we sell a ton of alpine product at work and i would recomend their products to anyone. they are simple to use and have very few warrenty problems.
on a side note, the best sounding deck i have ever owned is my alpine 7949. it's sound quality is even better than the 9815 i had for a while.

eh... people reccommend things all the time, but that doesnt make the product better. i believe that for every brand name of something, there will always be fans, and fans will buy their product even though there is something better out there. then when people buy it, they claim its sooooooo good and praise the product and so forth. people are so proud of their product, they start saying all this crap. personally a lot of people on here say useless crap about how their alpine is better than everything else, if u love the product, thats great, but dont give out false and ignorant posts about how its far more superior than another. by no means am i saying dont do a write up or review a product, just dont say crap like "its the best sound quality ive ever heard" or "its the best radio on the market" because then newbs would take it seriously and then buy one when they dont even know wut theyre buying. i know because i was once a newb and an idiot who heard people praise about a product and then went out and bought one. then i swear i thought it was so good. then i came to realize it was ****.

so i guess my point is, bassislife has his opinion and everyone has their own. if hes likes it, let him, stop trying to convince him to like alpine better. if he likes it, let him. so wut if he likes kenwood better than alpine, does it bother u that he likes alpine better? thats the vibe that im getting from some of the posts.

have u tried using any other brands for an HU? also, when ur comparing ur HU's were both of the systems exactly the same? meaning was only the HU swapped for the comparison? one last thing... wut does ur system consist of?

 

i have tried many other headunits, but i still am a fan of old school products though. i truely believe that a source unit should have fader and balance, thats about it. eclipse would be another recomendation to my customers, but alot of our salesmen arestupid and walk an eclipse sale because of the non-detachable face.

Bass is not being flamed because his "opinion" is that Kenwood is better, only that his opinion, this week, is that "ALPINE SUCKS".

Also this form is mostly about peoples opinion about one brand or another,[ when a "newb" or anyone asks, what should I get] my opinion is that Alpine is the best, not that Kenwood is the worst or that it SUCKS,[ aiwa sucks lol] although I bet that there are people that think it does,.

People are brand loyal for one reason and one reason only, they like and are happy with that brand, and it makes no differance why, it could be SQ, or it could just be the color of the display or just the cost. 94

Can't we all just get a long. The bottom line is bass is an idiot and i dont know why everyone is getting their panties in a bunch over him saying alpine sucks. ive had people tell me classe sucks and i should get sony... sometimes theres just no point trying to prove a point to a moron.

now...saying alpine sucks is a pretty bold statement. saying your kenwood deck is better than the alpine you had could be a correct statement from your point of view. dont forget that alpine also makes the F1 status gear which definately does not suck. keep in mind the wide variety of products that each company makes when saying a manufacturer sucks. i'm not saying alpine is the greatest but i'm also not saying they're the worst. you have to take all things into consideration when choosing a deck such as price, looks, built-in amp, features etc.

alpines are just a little pricey, and youre right... Kenwoods are REALLY good. You get a lot for what you pay for with a Kenwood.
