Alpine ERA-G320
Hello all,
About 4 months ago, a friend gave me this Alpine piece. Since he told me it was an amp, i just put it away in my room and didn't really think twice about it.
Then, one day, as i was cleaning up i said, "you know what, you should find out exactly what this is." so i GOOGLEd the model number and found out that it is not an amp, rather, it is a 14-band graphic EQ. I've never really been a huge music head when it comes to Audio installations, so i don't know what that really means. Is that a good thing?
Also, i heard that this can only be used with an Alpine headunit (duh!). Since i will soon be in the market to purchase a new headunit (preferably one w/ in-Dash Touchscreen DVD), if this part that i have is worth it, i would just look into spending the money to purchase a HU from Alpine (so long as it meets my other needs).
Can you help me understand some of this Audio jargon that i am so ignorant to? In some of my previous posts, I've stated that I'm really going for Sound Quality rather than just having ridiculous bass. Since that is my goal, would this be a good item to keep and then investing in an Alpine HU?
Also (before the flames start, let me state that i just started thinking about this recently and have yet to act upon it) if i had all Alpine equipment (HU, speakers, subs, etc.), would that make it easier to get sponsored by Alpine? I've never ventured into the world of Sponsorships before, nor have i don't the research to find out what merits a sponsorship, but i just assumed that if you have a majority of that companies product already on your vehicle, they would look at you more seriously.
Thank you for any assistance.

My first question would be do you have both pieces? If so....
Then yes it is a very good piece if all you have is an entry level HU. [only one set of RCAs, no sub output things like that] and because the input is RCA it will work with any HU that has at least one set of RCA outputs. On the other hand....
If you do not have both pieces, it is just so much junk.
The other thing to keep in mind is, if you are looking for an indash DVD with Touchscreen, like the Alpine IVA-D100... http://www.alpine-usa.com/en/p...-D100 or the IWA-W200... http://www.alpine-usa.com/en/p...-W200 then I would say, maybe use the ERA-G320 but if you go with the Alpine IVA-D310... http://www.alpine-usa.com/en/p...tab=F definitely not.

Okay...Here it is in a nutshell " Are you ready to be someones Bitch!!??
Yeah that was a little harsh...but its also the reality of the game. There is many levels of sponsorship...but it always involves one thing "What can you do for
that company?" Most companies (major ones) wont touch an unproven person..but there are a few things you can do to even the odds.
- if you compete is any type of competition get to know people (reps, fellow comps)
they can be the gateway for you.
- Talk to the vendors at shows-small companies are great places to start.
- dont expect to get a free ride at the start...to get there it takes a lot
of hard work...and proven tack record
Thats just the tip of the iceberg..go to shows and talk to those who have been sponsored...just remember this: Its a lot of work...you are/can be at the beck and call of the company (you are actually in the employee of that company)-if they want you to have your car torn down and redone in 3 weeks for a major show...guess what bub..its gonna happen.
Ahh the joys of sponsorship ( full ride) that is. I wish you luck
your it.

The ERA-G320 was a good piece. It is prefered to hook it up to an Alpine head-unit via the AI-Net plug. I believe this can be hooked up stand-alone as well.
If you are looking for sound quality, as well as looking into an Alpine DVD touch screen head unit, I would recommend the Alpine PXA-H710. This will integrate directly with the IVA-D310 (touch screen DVD) and also supports 5.1 surround sound.
As far as sponsorship goes, Alpine doesn't sponsor cars anymore. They build their own.
