i cannot seem to tackle the problem! i need to isolate!!!!!!

i'm going to need some test tones. gonna hook up a DMM to the RCA output to see if i get any voltage on that thing. if i do, then i know my problem is somewhere else.

what was the problem again? radio works, but when in CD mode, no sound comes out of the speakers. i know it's not my amp because it would not make sense for it to only produce radio signals and crap like that.

i think it's because atf kuk touched me a few weeks back

but for some reason, it doesn't work in my car a year later....

yeah, kicks are in, fuses wired up, amprack almost finished, sub box is bolted in, a-pillars have been glassed, and the trim piece for the dash is ready for paint

I have to strip the car this week (waiting for parts) so that I can wire it up, then it's full steam ahead

I sell Alpine... I'm even an authorized Alpine F#1 Status dealer...

Alpine is very feature packed and has awesome sound quality and tuneability. Very innovative Ai-Net integration system.

CVA monitors always had motorization problems.
DVA dvd players always had playback and eject issues.
Pre MP3 era CD players had skipping and CD-R playback issues.
Cassette players kick ***.
All 2004 models from 9831 and above have glitches with playback and intermittent power.
V12 series amplifiers are the most reliable and good sounding amps out there.
Flex and VPower series amps have xover problems. Too much mid bass pass through causing tweeters to pop and crackle.
SPS series speakers tweeters blow often.

You've got your amps hooked up to the power antenna wire. Connect them to the amp turn on wire.

why does everyone say this

they are hooked up properly as i am able to listen to the radio and the antenna goes up when i turn it on and it goes down when i go to CD mode. unless acura didn't label their wires correctly....

But do you have your amplifiers hooked up to the same antenna wire? Because if they were, the sound would only come out when your radio is on.

the remote wire from the amp is connected to the headunit's ble/white wire while the power antenna is connected to the solid blue wire.

i'm pretty sure i got it hooked up right. the amp is still on when i'm in CD mode

i dont know whats so funny about that statement. the older ES line blows away just about everything on the market right now for pure SQ. the xplode line is a different story.

so GSteg, my question is, you think i should stay away from the 7990??

I have been leaning toward the upper level of Eclipse models, but due to recent reviews I have seen(one of which was on here), I may wait until the problems are fixed.

Is it just me or does the illumination on the alpine decks prone to blow out? I have experienced this many times and am left with a working deck with a black display.

I have never liked sony. Had to many problems with their **** as a kid. Alpine
looked like they sell their **** based on how fancy they can make it. I would try
Kenwood, a Kenwood hu came in my car and it looked over four years old and
worked perfectly. I also think Panasonic is good. They don't skip as easily as kenwood hu's when you hit bumps going pretty fast, and have never had any problems with them.

All of my decks have been Alpines and never had a single problem. Everything from tape pullouts back in the day, double-dins, to the top of the line decks they put out the last couple of years. Might just be luck of the draw but if that's the case you must have really bad luck.

i have no idea. scareyh22a would be the better person to ask since he is an authorized F#1 dealer. He should know more about the reliability of those things than i do. Now what would u be doing with a 7990?????

i have also had an Alpine 7930,comp unit from back in like 98...paid 450. worked about a year and a half. Then bought a Sony ES...awesome unit, never skipped( and i mean i've thrown some shitty cd's in there) and was greta quality. sucks they dont make ES anymore for car audio or i would of bought one instead of getting my Alpine 7897. good unit.....so far.

I have just about every brand of head unit and I can say that Alpine is the best quality for the money. Alpine and Eclipse are the only two that I would personally go with.
