alarm suggestions
okay, i had posted before on the best security system thread. by the way, i tried to search for that thread 3 different times through recent and archived threads and it wouldnt appear but its here( https://honda-tech.com/zero...ge=23 ) that was last year, im ready to get an alarm now. im looking for a cost effective alarm with 2 way LCD.
choices are compustar 2w900fm,viper 5000, and hornet 745t
additional things:
hood pin, hatch pin (is it necessary, or needed, or does it tie it to wiring?) dual stage proximity sensor (dei one is not recommended it appears), back up battery, siren in engine bay or fender, and one in car (loud piezo fine).
now is a glass breakage sensor or tilt necessary, or needed? thats pretty much it. my car is a 88 crx. how long do you think install would take? i have seen up to 3 days posted on here. and general cost you would charge, or feel this would cost. im looking to have this installed within the next 3 weeks (out of school until mid may i think). i still havent found any northern california locations that will not try to rape me on the prices. or should i just break down and go with best buy, circuit city, or audio pros (local chain) just to get it in. if you have a suggestion for a bare bones setup that is cost effective with 2 way and will still provide decent security, please suggest it. also, would i be able to have stuff added on later (lets say i just get the 2 stage sensor, and want to get the other 2 installed later)

I let that old thread hit rock bottom like a 2 dollar ***** that just bought 2 dollars worth of crack. Please refer to this topic (stickied at the top of the forum) https://honda-tech.com/zerothread/1928234
Hood pin is sold seperately with most alarms now but is included with remote start alarms.
You don't need to add a pin switch to the hatch/trunk because there is already an OEM switch built into the latch.
"Is a glass breakage or tilt sensor necessary?" Is your car even necessary? Can't you take the bus? I don't understand the question. What do you define as "necessary"? Necessary to prevent your car from being stolen? Yes, they are necessary. So is GPS tracking, a garage, a wheel boot, an armed guard. It all depends on how far you're willing to go.
Alarm install takes between 2 and 5 hours. You cannot purchase a stealth install to my knowledge.
There is no "bare bones" 2 way paging alarm.

i have read all your stickied posts and both your web pages. in the security thread, you state to not use both the glass breakage sensor and the motion sensor. thats why i questioned if having both would be a good idea, or be redundant.
im currently leaning towards the hornet 745t. i do not have power locks, windows, nor want that or remote start. i currently do have other security measures that have prevented my car from being stolen on 3 break ins. 2-5 hours is more what i was looking for on a stealth install.
so setup im thinking per your suggestions (from the best alarm thread), please add what you think will help.
SETUP: hood pin, back-up battery, dual stage proximity sensor, 2 sirens (in car, engine bay), and maybe glass breakage sensor (depending on reply, suggestions)

From: 99 probs but a stolen car aint 1, ca, cerritos/fullerton
The only problem I see is putting the siren in the engine bay. I rather the customer puts it in the fender. There is no way you can get at it. Zyou can add as many sensors as your budget allows
omni sensors any good? i found a place that may do a good install. i talked with the installer for a while. he suggested a omni sensor (pressure sensor?). he is recommending the autopage 420 or compustar 2wfm. not having much luck finding info on the autopage, but he stated that it is his highest selling model on hand.

Any sensor the triggers the alarm anytime, [and only] when there is contact with your car or "dual stage" sensors that do the above but also will trigger a warning, if, [and only when] there is "light" contact, [or close proximity] with the car.
A properly installed basic alarm will do that, also if installed properly you can install as many sensors as you want, if you think about it any added sensor would be redundant, but then that's the point.

i found an installer. thanks guys for the recommendations. my uncle had some work done by a local shop thats pretty new. the guy has been around for a while (15 years) and has a few of the top 100 installers plaques on the wall (recent ones). can anyone tell me what an omnisensor is for? it looks like it is a feature on the new clifford g5. it appears to be some sort of pressure sensing sensor that detects change and goes off.
*so its either the autopage 420 or the compustar 2wfm.
will decide tomorrow at the shop. any suggestions, input is welcome. i have searched and read as much as i can on alarms and thank everyone for the responses
