Default alarm problems

car: 1999 honda civic si
alarm: lo jack
for some reason when i got the car the alarm wasnt active. my buddy who knows alarms try to reset it to make it work by turning the ignition to the on position and pressing the red led light down until it chirped. well it did activate the alarm but my remote didnt work to disarm it. then strangely when i went back outside the remote worked fine up until now. all of a sudden the remote doesnt arm or disarm the system. but the alarm is still active ive tried disarming/ and arming the system repeatedly with no sucess from the remote. (btw, the remote does have power because it has a red led on it that lights up everytime i hit the larger button and the smaller one). any suggestion please

lo jack... isn't an alarm....

. . .

who installed the alarm?

it sounds like a dealer installed alarm..

look under the dash for a black box... with some brand on it... if you can give us the make and model of the alarm.. someone here might know how to reprogram the alarm to accept the remote....
