Default Alarm problem please help

Alright guys.

Ive got a 94 uk vti with a standard alarm. I removed the sensor under the bonnet on the passenger side to clean the sorrounding area and ever since then my alarm has been setting its self off.

The wire is connected to the end of it but i get my head around how it works.

Its screwed to the chassis which means its constantly gounded, theres no pickup or corresponding sensor on the bonnet so god knows how it works.

Your help is apreciated big time.

Cheers.

Well it is probably a "pin-switch" something like this... http://www.dlcparts.com/fronte...=3210 push the pin down and the part that the wire is connected to is separated from the housing that is mounted to the car resulting in no ground going to the alarm, when pin is released, [ when the bonnet, or as we Canuck call it , hood is opened] the part with the wire attached makes contact with the housing, that is grounded, sending a ground to the alarm, triggering it.

Unplug the wire from the switch, [make sure it does not touch ground] and try the alarm again, if it works, [does not go off] then you have a defective pin-switch or it is misadjusted. 94
