Default 520T Battery Backup

I'm having problems that I don't understand. I hooked up the RED wire to my radio harness for constant 12. Then I spliced directly into the wire that feeds the alarm constant 12. The black went to a ring terminal for chassis ground and here is what I don't get. I spliced into the hood pin trigger wire with the blue wire . I armed my alarm while holding down my hood pin switch and pulled the negative battery terminal and nothing happened. I tried one more thing out to problem solve, I disconnected the the blue wire and hooked it up to my DMM the other probe went to a chassis ground pulled the positive battery cable and no beep from the meter. Any help or direction would be appreciated.

The blue wire goes to the alarm's trigger input. This is the wire that tells the alarm to go off. If you have it connected to a pin switch, how does the alarm know the alarm has lost power?

The red and gray wires go inline with the alarm's power source. You cut the power wire to the alarm, connect the bb's red to the power side, the gray to the alarm side.

Wow man thanks lot again. I was thinking the power go direct to separate sources. I'll try it when I get a chance. Also, I read on cause of an alarm to put the blue on the hoodpin trigger wire. Maybe you read it as I hooked it up to the pin itself, sorry.

If it's going to a dedicated input on the alarm then no you do not.
