520t back up battery help
I have the viper 5900 and have the back up battery and tilt sensor hooked up. I followed the dei intructions, I hooked up the red to constant power, black to ground, gray to alarm red power wire, and blue wire to blue wire on the alarm that is hooked up to the trunk trigger, i also hooked up the blue wire from the tilt sensor to the alarms blue wire, and I also put a diode on the blue wire from the back up batt and tilt sensor then splice into the alarm blue wire. Do I need to put diode from the blue alarm wire to the cars trunk trigger wire?
You need to install a diode on the trunk trigger lead, before the point where it is connected to the alarm, right now any ground output from tilt sensor or back-up batt. will go to grounding the trunk/hatch light, [turning it on] however the ground output from the tilt sensor and backup batt, is very "low", 500mA or less, the trunk/hatch light will need a lot more and will draw as much as it can from the sensor and batt.
Hopefully you have not damaged the sensor and/or back-up batt. trigger outputs, by not having a diode on the trunk/hatch trigger lead 94

Ok, i put a diode and tested the tilt sensor an it works fine, but when i arm it and disconect the battery the siren just chirps. I checked the voltage on the back up battery when disconected it was at 7.4 volts. How long does the back up battery take to charge?
Give it a day of driving around, if it does not go up to 12.5V replace it. 94
Cool thanks, you have been alot of help. I hooked up the horn to the alarm with a relay and it works, just need to know if i need diode on the tilt sensor wire that goes to the orange wire ground when armed and would it be better to hook the instant trigger on the hood trigger wire to take some load of the trunk trigger?

I would also like to add this and will do a write up of the problem. You need to make sure your main car battery holds a charge and rest at least 12 volts or more. If not the back up battery will also rest at this level. This is a very big problem. Especilly if you have the parking lights wired to the alarm. If the alarm parking light output is switched to 12 volts. There will not be enough power to cover the parking lights, alarm and siren. So if the car is armed and the main car battery is cut. The alarm will not trigger or sound. And is pertty much useless. This also goes if you leave the car parked for a couple of days with out starting it. The best best is to use a relay to trigger the parking lights and switch the alarm output to neg insted of pos. The alarm cal run down to 6 volts on a weak back up battery. But not with it flashing the lights. I been testing this on my own cars after having the car sit for days then testing the 520t to see if it will work *** it should. Thank god I just found this out.
^^^ you know it states to only use neg. light flash with the 520t on its instructions right?
i posted pics of the install sheet back this summer when me and fcm had been discussing it in another thread.

As asked, why did you not use the horn output, [H4/2 brown]? 94
I hook it up direct and it does not work, it worked fine the way i had it hooked up. Do I need to put a diode on the orange wire since I have my tilt sensor and horn spliced in? Can you show me how to hook up the relay to the parking light , so my back up battery would function correctly
