2 way pager alarm remote problem
I have a viper 690xv on my car and today the remote is not working. No buttons on the remote work, but it shows and vibrates when a door is opened. It shows the remote as having signal but when you press a button it shows no signal. And because of the started kill I cant start my car. Any ideas what could cause the remote to do this? and how can I start the car, unplug the brain?

Re: 2 way pager alarm remote problem (8krdline)
you can start the car by putting it in valet mode.
1-locate valet switch
2-turn key to on postion
3-take key out
4-press valet switch
5-make sure led is solid(if it is proceed to step 6 if not go back to 1)
6-start car
as far as your remote not working you gonna need a new unless you can solder the smallest solder connection ever but as long as the alarm was installed by a certified d.e.i. dealer you have a life time warranty.

8krdline is correct about disarming the alarm, but i don't believe dei has a lifetime warranty on the remotes. it is usually the brain of the alarm.

Re: 2 way pager alarm remote problem (fcm)

If you have the white remote with grey backing, (which I believe you should with a 690xv), and if you got it installed at an authorized dealer, I believe those have somewhat of an extended warranty
The reason being is that those white remotes are somewhat defective and thats why DEI came out with the new remotes so quickly after the old ones. You can try calling up DEI. They may be able to still replace the remote even those its out of its 1 year warranty

Re: (EGPrelude)
well the thing is it was installed by a friend of mine. He used to work at bestbuy installing alarms and wasnt at the time when he installed mine, so I dont think that they will cover it.

hmm...I've heard some shady **** about that 790 so I went w/ 791 instead but that sux too so I got the clifford remote for $75 brand new on ebay and using that. It's better and has a better range for some reason over the viper remotes
