Re: Red EG8 Project
Last 2 parts should be here between monday and wednesday. A flex pipe to complete the exhaust and hasport shift linkage.
Probably looking at friday or saturday for the first start up!

Re: Red EG8 Project
Thanks guys.
Well, my computer crashed. seems like a major hard drive failure, so i might have lost all my pictures and every other document i had...
but these are the last ones I had uploaded for another forum beforehand.
don't know when I'll be able to get a new computer and follow with more updates and new pictures. But the car is rolling now and I've got my hasport shift linkage, but today i'll be seeing about getting the busing assembly at the shift lever since the one i got from an old car is pretty much junk. After searching around here, I think I have my wiring for the auto-to-manual conversion figured out, but we should find out for sure when I go to turn the key this weekend.
That exhaust pipe there is the last thing left. I wanted a flex joint because I had to delete the "doughnut" gasket flange so that I still have some damping between the header and the exhaust. The pipe one either side of the flex now has a small bend making it slightly S-shaped. Just need to weld up the pipe joints and the flanges and that should be the last piece between now and starting the engine. Not doing the first start with open header, I want to be able to hear the engine as good as possible. And then the first drive will be whenever I get the shifter bushing fixed.

Re: Red EG8 Project
Thanks.
So far so good. Everything seems to be holding up awesome so far. on the fourth day of driving it and around 150 miles so far.
Compression tested it last night all four were around 230-235 psi.
Ordered a phearable chipped ecu for now and it's on its way. We'll see how that goes. Bumping the rev limit up to 8500 and gave him my full list of parts.

Re: Red EG8 Project
Thanks. Yeah I hardly have time to do much. I'm pretty much at work 45-50 hours per week and then I get home and it's almost always been straight to the garage for the last few weeks. Probably been putting in 20-30 hours on the car with the swap in the last few weeks too.
Got my muffler wrapped up today after getting a new clutch slave on there...The old slave blew out the seals while I was driving home and I lost pretty much all the fluid. Somehow managed to get it the last 5 miles home though.
Phearable ecu was suppose to be here yesterday according to the tracking, but there's been no update on the tracking since friday and it's obviously not here. so idk what's up with that...

Re: Red EG8 Project
did an alignment over the weekend. Turns out I had a pretty good amount of toe in. Got that all sorted out. And my camber is sitting at about -1.3 all around, so not too bad there either.

Re: Red EG8 Project
Reviving my thread because I've gone into winter work mode and there will be a lot more updates to come pretty soon.
Basically, what I've done so far since putting it away for the winter is work on some wire tucking and cleaning up the bay a little bit. Sold my old strut bar because I'm picking up a new in ~2 weeks. Also picking up my friend's old power chamber because he's going boosted. Old wheels are up for sale and I'll be ordering something new late january/early february.
start of work.
now.

Re: Red EG8 Project
polishing my header and going to re-heat cycle it. First time around it turned out super uneven with lots of oil marks and spots all over the place.

Re: Red EG8 Project
last update on the header. next time it will be new parts.
Final buffing and cleaned with brake cleaner x3
Initial color change after ~20 minute of running
All the way down.
I expect it will darken some more the next few times I run it, but if it manages to stay this smooth for a while, it will have been totally worth it.
