'91 Civic Hatch STD..
I decided to get back into another ED hatchback project. It will be a slow project as money is tight since I am in school and working part-time hence the "SlowBurn" title. This one is a 1991 Civic std. Came from Colorado and has no rust. It has been sitting for a year so it needs a good cleaning. The stock motor was blown but included in the purchase was a Dohc ZC motor with an ED Si cable trans(not installed).
This is my 4th red ED hatch and hopefully I will hold on to this one longer than the previous ones.

I just parted out a CRX that had frame damage. There it goes on the stretcher!

ZC motor

Si trans, ZC motor, and in the background my sohc(d15b2 stock block, y7 head w/delta 272 cam) that was in the crx.

I was debating whether to stay NA with sohc or use the ZC and go turbo down the road. For now I am going to put the ZC motor in and figure out what I want to do. I am leaning towards turbo ZC.....
I have the rear disc and front Nissin calipers/knuckles from the crx(it was an Si) that will be going on the hatchback. I still have my DC catback exhaust as well that will be bolted up.
I just want to get the motor/trans in first and get it running before anything else. That will probally be all I do before it gets stored for winter but we will see.
More to come.....

Turbo is what I'm thinking too...

Couple days ago I semi-mounted up the flywheel so I could break the crank pulley bolt loose, well the previous owner already had the bolt loose.

Above shot(Thats two red mirrors and a '91 si cluster on the seat, the std's didn't come with a tach but the guy threw those in).

Before shot of the release bearing being replaced with a new one(Forgot to get the after..)

And a pic of my daily 4-door engine bay all stock except DC 4-2-1 one-peice header(it was on my D15b2 bottom end/y7 head in my last crx).

Waiting on Front/Rear Main Seals then will be R&R timing belt/waterpump(which I have) and a new valve cover gasket.....Then motor goes in...

I picked up a carbon fiber hood. The clear is a little faded but it was cheap and the hood that came with SlowBurn wasn't straight.

Got the old rear main seal out...

New one in...

Flywheel back on...

Next I will be installing the clutch, release bearing, new front main seal, timing belt, and tensioner.
Then thrown motor/trans together and into the car. Hopefully this saturday get that done.
Also I need to switch some wires around at the ecu as the harness on the motor is already dpfi to mpfi so most of the work is done wiring wise....hopefully.

Worked on SlowBurn for awhile today(some crappy pics)...
Got the clutch mounted up-

Replaced the front main seal, timing belt, tensioner, and water pump. Forgot to get a pick of that all except for a crappy one of the small oil leak from the front main seal.

Then got the motor/trans together, installed: crank pully, timing covers, alternator, and starter.
Time for a steak break before the ZC goes in.

Its bolted up! Now I just need to finish hooking crap up, replacing the std knuckles with si ones, put the front end back on, little bit of wiring, and then its start-up time.

Been getting some small stuff done.

Put on the carbon fiber hood and got most of the bolts loose for the driverside fender that will be replaced with a non-dented (also red)fender.

Installed the radiator, getting an 88 integra upper rad hose today.

Mostly everything hooked up in the bay...

I still need to add 4 wires, hook up shift rods, install exhaust, change out front knuckle assembly for my crx si ones, switch out rear drum for the disc off my old crx si and the master cylinder...

Thanks, got some more work done today. Finished the wiring, hooked up shift rods, rad hoses, and put oil in the motor, plus some other misc crap.
My battery is junk so I need to get a new one and then I need to tighten up the the timing belt and start her up. I still need to put on the Si knuckles and K-sport non-adjustable springs(w/stock shocks for now) then get my dc sport exhaust lengthened so it will fit under the hatch. Also install axles and fill up the trans fluid.
Hopefully this week it will be fully operational!

Decided to work on some other stuff besides the timing belt.
Got the driverside suspension off and swapped on some CRX Si knuckles/brakes, Ksport non-adjustable coilovers w/stock shocks. Installed the axle, Innovative Mounts front crossmember bushings, and new outer tie rods.
I got most the passenger side suspension loose, just got to finish pulling it off and installing the replacements.

Also installed some hood pins as the carbon fiber hood already had some installed and I didn't want to see the holes.
Taking longer than I had hoped but its getting there...

Update: Back from the dead.....kinda.
I moved Slowburn into storage until it starts to warm up outside. Then I want to get it running and sell my current daily driver. I only have room for one car at my place so I can only keep one once the hatchback is running.
I was trying to sell this hatchback but now I figure I will like it better for a daily driver compared to my current 91 civic 4-door(the body is beat and rusty but it runs good).
I can't wait to drive a hatchback again and with the dohc zc. The ZC will stay stock for now. I just need to install my 91 crx si rear disc brakes, DC sport exhaust and get the damn thing running. The only upgrade I want to do in the future are some new shocks to go with the K-sport springs.
