Where did you get you b18c5 swap
I'm trying to freshen up my 95 GSR by doing a JDM B18C5 swap. It hink this will be easier/cheaper than rebuilding my motor and trans. But I dont know a good place to get a swap from. With this kind of cash on the line I would like to know of a place people actually have had good experiences with, or at least didnt get screwed by. I've seen several on ebay but i dont really trust that.
What do you think?
thanks

Re: Where did you get you b18c5 swap (93 InTeGrA Rs)
Why god price, sevice, shipping?
Has anyone purchased a motor off ebay? How did that work out for you?

what goals do you have with the motor? if you see yourself doing internals/etc in the future then dont bother spending the $ for the c5, in which case it would be more cost effective to just rebuild the gsr.

Re: (redrum eg6)
Spending several thousand dollars to replace a used motor with another used motor of basically the same hp/tq and probably age is sort of illogical. On the other hand, if your motor is not making compression on 1 or more cylinders and is toast, I can see you trading it for a JDM that at least has [or should] good compression. If you just want to 'freshen' it up, get an oil change. Do the rebiuld yourself and learn something while you save money! You can do it for like 1k or so to get it back to stock condition if you do your own work [besides machining].

Re: (sahtt)
i got my 98 jdm itr from ebay for $4200 shipped. the engine had no more than 15k miles on it. came with Kaaz lsd and some other goodies like jdm vtec controller still attached to the ecu and a hyper grounding kit still attached to the engine. i don't think the seller knew there was a Kaaz lsd in because they never metion about it. it was a company from canada.
my first 2 attempt to buy an engine off ebay didn't go as smooth. both seller refuse to sell the engine after i won the auction. they said the closing bid was too low but they never set a reserve price. i called them up and they were very rude, they basically told me to **** off. the one told me that they would sell it for $4500 plus shiping after i won the auction for $3800. so beware who you are bidding on from ebay, check all their feedback and the items they sell.

Re: (sahtt)
the technical aspect of a rebuild is no problem. I worked for BMW and Lexus as a tech for a few years. But now I'm in the army. My tools are in Texas and I am in Georgia. THere in lies the rub.
Anymore thoughts or opinions. I aprreciate the feedback greatly.

Re: (FormulaGSR)
Is u send hmotorsonline and email they will let u know how much shipping will be. Im pretty sure its around 250 to ship and engine. Ebay has some good deals but sometimes u dont really know what ur getting. Sometimes it may be damaged or missing someting and they wont tell u, so buy an engine off of ebay at ur own risk. As for other websites, most of the time they will give u some kind of warranty. Good luck

I bought my complete B18C5 short block assembly (the complete block/internals, oil pan, all the pumps and what not. Everything but the head and tranny) for 2222.22 brand new from a local Acura dealer.
I already had a B16 head so I just paid to have that hot tanked, bead blasted, 3angle valve job upgraded valve train, and a mild PnP
Slapped it all together with the B16A2 transmission and it pulls like a ****. Im just waiting on some agressive cams to I can make the engine reach its full potential.

Re: Where did you get you b18c5 swap (FormulaGSR)
I assume you mean B18c.... no numbers after the letter in Japan, so you better know the differances between the B18c SIR-G and the B18c Type R before you make the purchase. The intake manifold is the instant giveway but if it doesn't include it then look to see if it's a P72 or P73 head. If it comes with a transmission than the housing should be stamped LSD on the ITR.
Anyways, I bought a new B18C5 shortblock.... included a complete factory assembled block and an unassembled P73 head for $2,600. Minus a few minor wiring changes (had to splice and lengthen a few wires), a new ITR throttle cable, and a skunk2 IM we were able to use all the existing [OBD2b] parts from my hydrolocked B18C1. Took me a few months to locate an ITR ECU and conversion harness though, bought a used 8.75lb. Cusco flywheel, clutchmaster stage III kit, and a few others things and total spent was right at $4k.
I spent 2 sleepless months looking for the engine then another month looking for parts. The day before I found the B18c5 I had located three B18c (SIR-G's) in NC for $1,800 each....it was a last minute decision not to go pick one up and I was sure glad i didn't and I've put nearly 25k miles on mine since it was completed last January.
