vtec not kickin
alright so i was goin today down that roaD and my friend was like. kick it in vtec (he had never ridden before) and so i start to roll in third. im at prolly 6000 and no vtec. i hit 6300 and say to hell with it and shifted. never tried getting it back up. my plugs to vtec are all on and everything. i dunno wat the expletive is going on. and i also wondered about my engine getting so hot that it melts the part of my wire that goes down in the head. it honestly melted that little rubber boot at the end of the wire that klicks on the plugs... my coolant was ok. and i just filled my oil... any help would be greatly appraecaited

you need certain things to engage in vtec
1. Vtec Engine with working sensors
2. RPM activation Point
3. at least 55psi of oil pressure
4. 130*F water temperature
5. Speed. Vehicle must be Traveling at least 10 MPH
So if your VSS is not working. then vtec wont work
water temperature isnt high enough then vtec wont work
low oil pressure = no vtec

if your speedo doesnt work that means that your ECU isnt recieving a signal from the sensor... and that means it doesnt go to your speedo.
So you either need to get a working speed sensor... or you need to get a chipped ECU and disable Vtec speed check

alright well i found out both problems. my vss had antifreeze in the plug so it couldnt have a good connection. so i took it off and cleaned it up and now it works. secondly. i figured out why my engine was getting so hot. apparently my thermostat valve thing. wasnt opening but a third of the way. so it could never cool the engine enough. but after io turn my engine off is it normal to hear a gurgle from my radiator? (the radiator is brand new). just wondering. thanks fer tha help.

lol well sorry to say but that thermostat is garbage i did a test a while back and i went and bought a bunch of Thermostats and did boiling water test on them to see when they opened and closed. and they all failed cept for Mugen and Honda thermostats. even the spoon, Jackson racing ones failed.
