Default Twin Cam's B20/VTEC Progress Build

Finally got my b20v back on the road after breaking a valve a few years ago. It's humid and raining for the past week or so but hoping to have some track numbers soon. The car was running 68% ethanol on the dyno and it was 98 degrees so left the timing a little conservative up top since it's about to get hotter and I drive the car a lot. Probably gonna go back at some point and make another map with my "track" intake, higher ethanol, and more aggressive timing but i'm happy with the results right now.

B20b block
Stock crank
Eagle rods
84.5mm Wiseco pistons (Around 12:5.1)
Endyn block girdle

B18 ITR head
Ferrea valvetrain
Jun IV cams
Stock LMAs
Skunk2 Ultra street with .5L spacer (just cleaned up)
Skunk2 74mm TB
custom 3.5" to 3" intake

Spark Racing Header with custom 3" exhaust

Grams 255lph pump with 750cc injectors

Nice numbers. Curious what a ported head and valvejob would yield on this build.

It feels pretty good so far but I haven't been able to really enjoy it due to the weather.

Finally got a few street tire passes in tonight without getting rained on. Temp was 89 with a heat index of 101 so not too bad for us. lol

Did you radius the edges of the valve relief areas on those pistons or is that how they came from Wiseco?

Great build! Your EF looks fantastic and puts down a healthy amount of power. Can you share with us some info on the transmission? Thanks

Definitely a well designed setup. Quick question, is that little scoop in the front lip a brake duct?

I'm curious what it would run with a 4.7FD on the trans. His launch and shifting seem just about perfect.

With a 4.7 he'd accelerate noticeably faster and he'd still easily be within 4th gear by the end of the 1/4.

Sick build, very cool man.

In regard to optimal gearing for acceleration, it has more to do with how much can be used. Gearing is essentially multiplying the torque, too much for the given speed and the car can surpass the available grip. Take a look at this video, I found it to be very useful.

Yeah, I have yet to finish them though. lol

Ran a little quicker Wednesday night. I did trap 111 on my first run.

Haha hell yeah, Engineering Explained! Love that guy.

I'd still go for the 4.7 personally, but to each their own. Love your build man, and congrats on the new time/trap!

Thanks! My original plan was to get a 4.7 and a 3.07 1st gear but my bank account didn't agree. lol

Looking good man. I bet with a 4.7 you pick up 2-3mph in the trap and 60" will drop some. You get that 60' to a consistent 1.7 and youre low 12's all day. What the car weigh? My EG at 2300 w/ me in it pulling mid 1.7's and 112 traps is 12.0 - 12.1 consistent. 253whp 162tq

I'm assuming it's about 2000 without me in it, but have yet to get it on a scale.
