price estimate for this job.
ok, i have a 99 si with the stock b16. i just purchased .25 oversized ctr pistons with rings. if i took my car to the shop with motor still together (as opposed to taking just the block) and i needed the .25 bore, and installation of the pistons and rings, and reassembly, AROUND how much would that cost in labor?

nah you just get a big 5lb rubber mallet and smash them in; works easy through the bottom everyone is doing it now!

piston r&r usually pays 13-15 hours flat rate. but since you're going oversized, you need to r&r the entire shortblock, completely disassemble, clean, etc. then pay the machine shop labor, and then pay the shop to assemble and reinstall the motor. i'd say you're looking in excess of $2000.00 without parts or supplies. and for what? higher compression? i guarantee you won't gain any more than 8-10hp.
you're better off running a 1 layer headgasket and shaving 15 thou off your head. unless you're running huge cams. headgasket & mill should run $500. or so, labor included.
