painting a header?
I know there is paint for an engine block. Is there paint for headers? I'm not sure.
The reason I ask is because I live in Cali. I have 2 DC headers, 1 has a CARB tag for a stock 2000 Si, and the other does not have a CARB tag (race only, type-r, 2.5")
My question is - can I grind/remove/swap the CARB tag from the legal header and tack it on the type-r header? This would be obvious, considering you'd see fresh welds on a ceramic-coated manifold. That's where the paint comes in - if I can do a clean swap with the grinds/welds, and then perhaps paint the header black, it might look a little more legit. I know I'm stretchin it here, but I'm still lookin for the collective knowledge of this forum to help combat my ignorance.
Thanks!

Header temp reaches somewhere in the vicinity of 1200 plus degrees. I have tried in the past with the highest temp paint you can buy to paint them black, nothing will stay and your car will reak of burnt paint for a good two or three days.
