I still say this forum is just a B series support group that gets together to deny the obvious.

You can do that but it's not usually necessary. You can use white lithium grease too.

lol i aint a pro but i always prime every thing and make sure i have oil on any and everthing that matters just for good measures. i prime the pump b4 the timing belt i fill up the oil filter with oil and then b4 valve cover goes on i pour the oil over everything i try to use assembly lube but usually dont. i crank it over a couple times to check for noises and oil flow not presure then

but on my newet build a just put redline oil 10w 30 str8 as my break in oil and gonna change in 500 this is what i did, im not siding with nobody or argueing just replieing to the tread starter so dont h8 on me plz

Synthetic oil is not recommended for use as break in oil because its lubricity is too high and the rings might not seat properly. Since they physically do 'wear in' you need an oil that doesn't lubricate as well as synthetic. I recommend straight 30 grade conventional oil for the first 500 - 1000 miles. I also don't recommend doing your initial oil change until that mileage. There is absolutely no reason to unless your engine was extremely dirty when it was put together.

I was told this by the chief chemist of Redline Oil, Roy Howell. He said modern engines from the factory are broken in on a run-in stand and have really tight tolerances so you can go straight to synthetic but that engines built by hobbyists or machine shops should always be broken in with conventional oil.

I totally understand, you can do it your way and that's fine but there are plenty of people that have done it and plenty of people that have had problems - of course there are other people that haven't. I just wouldn't want to risk having to pull the pistons out and bottle brush hone the walls again to get the rings to seal right - just my opinion.

Holy effing gibberish. Try spelling out just one word please. Everyone breaks in an engine differently, and of course, everyone thinks their way is right.
