As to the rev limiter, my ideal is to have the rpm within peak power after I shift to the next gear, so I like having maybe 1500-2000 rpm or so higher than peak power if I can.
Went back to the dyno after a bunch of "upgrades". Whelp, lost about 10 whp between about 4500 and 8200 RPM just to gain about 7 whp way up top from 8200 to 9200 RPM

Open header did a bit better, lost about 5-10 whp between about 6100 and 7600, gaining up to 13 whp from 7600 to 9200 RPM.

Current mod list:
  • B18C (GSR bottom end with B16 head)
  • B16 valves
  • Supertech 85lb valve springs with titanium retainers
  • About 12:1 compression
  • Mild port job
  • Skunk2 pro 1 cams
  • Skunk2 ultra street IM (was a B16A intake)
  • AEM 3" cold air intake (was a 2.5" injen cold air intake)
  • Skunk2 alpha header V2 (was an SMSP replica header)
  • 2.25" exhaust
I am thinking about going back to the SMSP replica header, making a 3" exhaust, and going to a P30 intake manifold to try and gain back that midrange (hopefully make even a bit more midrange) and ideally keep the top end.

Blue line is a stock B16A
Pink line is the previous setup

Green line is the current setup
Red line is the current setup, but with open headers.
