Default NA JDM B20B CRX...what cams??

I have a '99 B20B in a '88 CRX Si and it rips ***, but it's too much like driving a truck. I'm planning to stay all motor and I wanted some opinions on what cams to run. Valve job and P&P are in the works so i just wanted to see if anyone had any experience actually staying ALL MOTOR and what cams their using. I see alot of people talking about the crowers the "03" and "04" are they even worth a ****? My car is my daily so I dont need a full race profile cam. Let me know.

I have had both 403's and 404's, and now I want 405's! For you I recommend 403's for a daily driver! Search HT there is a guy that made 180 whp with 403's!

What tranny you using? I recommend a B16 or GSR tranny.

Im using a '91 LS tranny. I seriously was trying to avoid the whole B20 Vtec craze, the thought of spending a **** load for a vtec head then running the risk of bending valves sounds gay to me. The stock b20 feels great, but once you get to 6800 its ***, even with a chipped ecu. I want a set up to make more top end power, without VTEC, or NOS, or FI. I plan to get a port flow valve job with the cams and tit. retainers and dual valve springs....a must. I just dont know which cams will provide the pull i need.

to get power above 6500 you are going to want to make your head breathe better. unfortunately our b18b heads don't have the best flow rate

Im planning to try to keep the block stock for as long as posible. New fuel pump and injectors also in the works. I just wanted to know if it would be worth the trouble to spend all the time to get a valve job,retainers/springs,and cams and would it actually make more top end. P&P is like $850 with a valve job i know this will allow the head to flow better. But i was planning on just the multi angle valve job with the springs, retainers, and cams. I hopping this will achieve the amount of high end i need for the motor. Let me know.

That can be solved by machining the head.

I have 2 spare LS heads, The thought of rebuilding them has come to mind.

And you can find the crower cams for cheap.

I have had the Crower 62403 and now the 62404-2! I only paid $350 per set brand new shipped to my door!

are the cams worth getting even if i dont P&P? I have 2 91 LS heads but the ports are an 1/8 smaller than the B20(p75) ports. so if i used an LS id have to P&P for sure.

I also have a b20b, but with a useful top end. Ive also opened up the head alot though, P&P a 94 ls head (milled 30 thousands), 96 LS cams, skunk2 i/m, DC jdm 4-1 header and other bolt-ons. After i drop in the 404's its going to get even better for top end, down low might take a crap but oh well.

There is alot of room for improvment with a near stock b20b. The stock cams arnt meant for top end at all, so your going to feel the tq. drop after 5800-6000. My suggestion is to get a spare LS head and open it up and throw some crower v/t in to support whatever cams you decide to go with, and ditch the giraffe manifold if you plan to improve your top end.

im running 91 LS cams with a BLOX intake manifold. Where's the site with the cams shipped for $350?? I know P&P is the best thing to do to "open up" the head, but i was trying to aviod that. Cams and tit. valvetrian will have to do for now.
This is my daily, and high HP and 1/4 mile times are to concern for this motor. You think its even worth it to put the 403's in with no P&P?

Thats why you have no top end. With my old 90' b18a after 5800 all tq. was gone and felt like i wasnt going anywhere. If you dont want bother p&p your head then atleast replace the v/t with crower v/t. I wouldnt worry about p&p if your planning to run the 403's.

yup yup,

crowers tit. vavletrain was gouing to be installed, just stock valves with no P&P or valve job. The intake ports on the the 90-93 LS are almost 1/8 smaller than a STOCK B20(p75) head. The b20 head is just a B18B head (GEN. 2 LS). What car are you running your set up in DA? Hybrid Vtec, let me know where to find the cams for so cheap. Ive searched for like 3 days and all i can come up with is $380+shipping=GAY!!!! Let me know where to find these!!!

people think VTEC is what you need to make power. its not. B20+some internal work+403/404(street use)+good i/h/e+GSR/B16 Tranny and you will put down some serious numbers.
