Default Mini-Me Swap vs. D16Z6

I was just wondering why someone would want to do the mini-me swap instead of just buying a D16Z6 complete. Is there something about putting a 1.6 vtec head on a 1.5 block? What's the HP on the mini me compared to the 125 whp on the D16Z6?

higher compression ratios... gives you more power lower down the rev range.

mine pulls well right from 2,000 revs

I don't understand what you're trying to say. He wants to know the difference in power between a mini-me and a Z6. You're telling him higher compression makes more power?

The thread is about the power each engine produces.

Not about how compression ratios affects horsepower.

Z6's make 125 at the crank, mini mes probably make around 115 to 120. Mini mes are lighter, not that is matters too much, and they are way cheaper and easier to do than swapping a whole motor, that is why you do a mini me.

is the same as ls/vtec most people dont wanna dish out 3gs for a gsr swap so they use the ls motor they already have to do a ls/vtec and spend around 1-2gs instead depending on how well its built.
so basically people that already have a 1.5/1.6 non vtec motor would just have to swap out their heads and few minor stuff without the need to remove the whole motor. as far as hp the d16z6 and mini me pull basically about the same hp mainly the way higher compression on the mini me helps it out the most, and if your upgrading your cams it will yield out more hp on the mini me then the d16z6.
