LS VTEC with bone stock B16A head. Safe redline?
I'm building an LS VTEC with 12.1:1 CR on a bone stock B16A head. Would it be wise to stay with the factory redline of 8200?

with the correct bottom end setup, 8200 will be perfect. considering that's about where your max power will be.

The only modification to the bottom end is ARP rod bolts and of course new bearings all around. Stock rods.

do you guys think i'll break 180 WHP with this setup? i'm building a set of itb's as well. but i don't expect to get more than 5 WHP out of them.
would cams alone be a good investment for more power? or would i have to upgrade the cams and entire valve train all at once?

on stock cams and a stock port? prolly not.

Re: LS VTEC with bone stock B16A head. Safe redline? (paton5g)
Thats what im doing. I got a stock B16 valve train with cams on my LS/V but im only looking to put down 170 ish from the wheels. I've always thought that since the B16 redlines between 7800-8000 that, that gives me an idea on where my redline is. In my situation the valvetrain is holding me back from higher revs but since im running stock cams Im not making power past 7500 anyway.

so how would i go about making 180 whp+? if i upgrade my valve train, what more could i do to break 180?
i have an ITR trand for this setup as well... i figure it will help me keep up with flow traffic.

u should break between 190-200whp but dont forget to do a good header, intake and exhaust setup with a good cam. Look at D-rob old lsvtec setup and it make 193whp skunk2 pro2 and p30s

Re: LS VTEC with bone stock B16A head. Safe redline? (AMLS4dr200whp)
I made 187whp with my LS/VTEC. B18a1 Block. OS P30's. ARP Rod Bolts. 2001 ITR Head w/ 3 angle valve job (ITR TB, IM). RC 310cc Injectors, DC 4-1 Header. Stock OEM Headgasket.
I made max power @ 8000 RPM w/ 01 ITR/CTR Cams. I don't see B16 cams making power anywhere past 8000rpm.
I would suggest Hytech Replica Header, 3" short ram intake w/ a 3" velocity stack.
Get a good tune and you should be around 175+whp.

i'm already committed to ITB's so the short ram is out. i chopped my b16 manifold to make these...
but i do have an ITR 4 to 1 header... i thought it would get me by for now. i tried to stay as oem as i could. should i be upgrading my injectors? and the only thing i need now to complete my build is an ECU. this is going into a 96 integra, which is OBDII i believe. what ECU should i be running? P28?
