here is my setup

ls b18a1 block
CTR pistons
LS rods shotpeened and ends machined to fit ARP rod bolts
Clevite rod bearings
ACL main bearings
gsr oil/water pump
greddy timing belt
megan racing 4-1 header
hi-flow cat
tanabe touring exhaust
ebay short ram intake

b16 head (stock valvetrain)
has no cams, looking at skunk2 pro1's and some valvetrain

my question is do I need port work or any kind of headwork to make 190whp? that is my only concern that if I leave the head stock and just throw in a new valvetrain and cams that I won't meet my goal.

ctr pistons huh? wow, you're bold.

Once you get the exhaust side uncorked, you will definitely see soe significant gains.

just got back from dyno at Six SIgma in stockton, Made 188whp with ebay short ram intake, stock b16 throttle body, and non ported gsr head. Pretty happy with results. What do you guys think? I hope to run 13's all day at the track next month You think the cold air intake and bigger throttle body hit 200whp?

No, 13whp is about 15 at the crank. For the additonal HP, I would look at VJ and porting.

Nice numbers dude. What kind of exhaust are you running and which I/m? With a skunk 2 manifold, port and polish, and throttle body you should be somewhere around 200 I'd imagine. Seems like those are the only 2 differences in our builds. How's it run compared to before? Hopefully it feels a lot stronger, mine sure did.

Nice, #s don't mean **** unless the car feels strong and runs good consistently. 38 whp increase is pretty damn good against that 150 baseline run.

you cant sit here and tell us that 13whp on every dyno is 15 crank hp on every motor. that is an illegimate statement. it could be anything. it could be every 13whp is 25 crank hp on one dyno and 20 on another. theres no way to prove that.

been reading up on this thread and some very nice numbers. heres my setup which is mostly bolt-on's

97 b18c-r
aem 3" cai
spoon 70mm tapered tb
aem fuel rail
aem fpr
hks cam gears
toda t-belt
ctr n1 pulley
smsp header
smsp straight pipe
buddy club spec2 catback
rsr ex-mag axle-back (choke)
act prolite flywheel
clutchmasters stage 2

made 182.10 whp 129.50 tq on chris whitfields dynojet tuned w/ crome (p28)

throwing on the spec2 exhaust which should yield ~10whp

debating on skunk2 pro1's or rocket m22x's headpackage and a retune. hopefully i get at least 210whp, yay or nay?
