GSR w/ LS Crank, Keep oil squirters?
I am looking to rebuild my gsr block and use an LS crank. I have one question. I will be using all OEM internals except for ARP Rod bolts. I will have crank micro polished and balanced as well as the rods shot peened. The main concern I have is regarding the oil squirters. I know golden eagle makes a block off kit for the squirters. I have read that the oil squirters are not needed if you use forged pistons, what if I use OEM pistons? Will I be better off blocking the squirters than bending them to provide clearance?

Yes you can keep them I would recommend it but you'll have to bend them to clearance the ls crank. There are many write-ups on here regarding this issue.

Since this will not be a drag car and more of a weekend car, I will just stick with the oil squirters. Now I've heard that you can also machine the crank to make room for oil squirters? would it be better to just bend the squirters. I want to do this right the first time.
Also, for those of you who bent the squirters, is there a certain way to go about it? heating them, then bending them? certain angle to bend them at? thanks..

I wouldn't recommend notching the pistons skirts although i've seen it done in v twin bikes that are stroked simply for the reason that the piston is no longer balanced like it was prior to the notching. A more conventional method is a torch and some light tapping with something of softer material (ie rubber mallet end)...

Just install the GE plug kit. I've been running my GSR block with oem LS crank and rods and cast pistons for almost 85k miles now and still don't have any issues. Daily driven (redlined daily), weekend warrior (redlined constantly).
