Re: DD/Drag B20V build
It does not change if the clutch is in or out or In or out of gear. I'm 95% sure it has to be something attached to the crank so My initial diagnosis of the diff is probably wrong. The tranny still shifts perfect and makes no noise. Drained the fluid and found zero metal as well. This Fidanza flywheel may not like the abuse I'm giving it. The motor still pulls fine and I hear no noise.

Re: DD/Drag B20V build
Hope you find it and get back on track for 11's!
Almost there!
Hope it's something with the clutch or flywheel vs something intenal to the engine.
Congrats on inching closer and closer to your goal!

Re: DD/Drag B20V build
I've been so busy with work and life lately the car has been on the back burner. There is a test and tune this Friday I am considering going to. I'm out of town for work til Thursday night though so I'll have to spend Friday looking at things,
I drained the motor oil and there is not metal
I drained the trans fluid and there is no metal either.
Whatever the vibration is I am 99% sure it on the clutch/flywheel/PP end. I may just run the car friday and see what happens.

Re: DD/Drag B20V build
Well I finally got around to tearing the car apart to see if I could figure out the vibration. It was related to exactly what I expected, the drive train. The pressure plate fell apart. There are 3 points that hole the pressure plate disc portion to the diaphragm. 2 of the 3 were sheered off and broken. Needless to say I consider myself lucky to have made a pass, but to also limp it home. My dad was surprised it didnt come apart at 9500 rpm and hurt me lol. But thats racing. I am going to try and get a warranty claim in and done and hit test and tune next week. Not sure if I'll be able to pull that off though.

It boggles my mind why some people cheap out on clutches... I am talking about any ebay yonaka, xtd etc etc... they hold a couple hits then deterate... Same goes for CC single and Spec.... I have always been a firm believer on ACT... ACT extreme series for example holds 475 ft lbs torque about 150 more ft lbs then any CC or Spec stage... just a better quality piece and worth the extra money....

My first CC didn't have a fair shot as the flywheel plate was pretty much toast. The action took a third gear grab from 8000+ rpm (thank you track official) but still stayed together to make a pass and get it home. Is what it is. Race it break it fix it repeat. They all have warranties.
Just for the record, (for everyone reading not just as a response to your post) apples to apples stage 4 ACT is rated at 280-410 depending on what combination of dick and PP you get, most of which are out of stock. $360- $580
CC is rates at 350 I can get for $305 (hook up) available locally (speedfactory)
Action is rated at 375 $420 ready to ship
I liked the action over the CC honestly and I think there would have been zero issues with it if the track official didnt pull me out of the burnout box. Slicks grabbed, clutch grabbed, rivots took all the stress and broke. Honestly I was surprised it wasn't an axle

Aww, you'll be back!
'63 Chevy II? Very cool. Been there, done that too. Nova ss and Acadians, I've had 3. What are your plans for the '63? Drag or street build?
pics?

Re: DD/Drag B20V build
It's going to be a pro street style build, but full tube. 4-link, 14 point cage, long strut front, etc. Just ordered the 4 link and cage. Have a 9" being narrowed to fit the 31x16.50 DOT slicks. Shooting for 9.50's on motor with a 496. Might throw a 200 kit on it for fun later and try for 9 flat. Eventually I would like to have a BBC Procharged setup in it and go for 8 flat and still street drive it.

Not giving up. Just moving up...lol. The honda scene is a joke on the west coast IMO. 98% are thieves and shitbags. No event support. Really all you can do is test and tune or travel to CA/AZ/CO to make events. Being an unsponsored racer with a full time job it's just not feasible. Hell, how many events does speedfactory get to? There is a reason the east coast cars are taking over the top 10 lists, there are more of them and they race every weekend. I live 10 minutes from pacific raceways and they have the NHRA brackets basically every weekend all summer. They hold regional and national events, etc. So much more opportunity to go out and race competitively and even make some money. Not to mention the people at those events are good people. You don't have to hide all your tools and lock up your trailer and parts and car and worry about a honda fuckboy trying to steal your ****. Sad, but true. I'm over it. I'm an adult. 10s, 11's, 12's arent fast enough and I dont wanna build a 12k tranny that WILL break just to hold running 9's.
I have a love for Hondas, but it gets to the point that it just doesn't fit my vision. I plan on going to hot august nights and other big nostalgia shows. Stance wars and walmart parking lot meets aren't my gig LOL

2 dr sedan, just like my '63. The one thing about domestics, they can be really expensive. I paid big money for a 582" from shafiroff, and again a 416" from thompson motorsports. I've now gone low budget and am putting together a stock block cast iron LS for my '69 c10. Google Matt Happel (Denmah), Sloppy Mechanics and see what is possible on a budget. I bet he could put together an entire single digit setup for less than what a set of BBC heads go for.
I'm also in Div 6, the import scene is a joke. The domestic crown is good, my neighbour runs every event. He basically retired early to go racing, I don't have the time or money for this. I just want to get vid of a wheelie going up main street in town here, and run the occasional test and tune/street legals when I get the itch.
After my b20 eg got written off I said I'd never buy another civic, took about 5 years but I have 2 again. For the money I save on gas it covers it's insurance.
