Default Best upgrade for hp on b18c-R? Street car

Im still kinda newbie sorry my first b series engine

JDM b18c type R 98+spec
Head
brian crower valve springs and ti. retainers (BC0020)
ferrea flat valves
the rest stock

Block
Stock block

stock IM,headers

gonna tune it very soon..

My goal is 220whp still with a/c and power steering for street daily drive (i use it like once or twice a week)

i want to upgrade my cams to skunk2 pro2+, but can it run on a stock block?

And what could be my next upgrade that can reach my hp goal? That not really cost that much? Thanks

I'm going to reference my current setup (96specR) plus e85 if you have it available in your area. Generally pro 2s would be considered to much cam for a your CR.

Anything other than Skunk2 tuner stage 1 will be too much for stock compression. From what i have read that is. You need upwards of 12:1 compression to make good use of stage 2 or higher cams. Also need upgraded valvetrain whcih you already have. I suggest getting some beefier rods since thats the weakest link on the motor. Also tuning. Will for sure need a tune if you get more agressive cams. And i believe bigger injectors, i couls be mistaken, im going strictly off memory here lol. But there is tons of info on this

Btw, keep in mine, the Skunk2 tuner stage 2 and Skunk2 pro stage 2 are two diferent cams with diferent lifts and duration. Go to their website and see what the specs are. The Tuner Stage 1 are more agressive than the Type R cams and with a tune should yield youore power, but nothing crazy.

there's no real consensus on what cam selection is best for stock b18c blocks seeing that a stage 2 can be anywhere from 252 duration to 266 and usually those advertised that high are at 1mm not at the .050 mark. a friend of mine made over 205 on stock type r block and head with pro 2 cams and pro 2 cams when degreed were 260/266 which is smaller than what Jun 3 is advertised as well as skunk tuner 2(which are smaller than 266 at .050).

Not correct. Tuner 1's are fine on stock compression, I've seen tuner 2's do very well in a stock R motor as well. You may have to rev it a hair more but the power will be there.

Stock rods are just fine, rod bolts are the weak spot....the R rods/bolts will handle what you can throw at it though if you don't want to upgrade to ARP (cheap insurance)

Upgrade to a set of RDX injectors which will give you better power out of the box and better efficiency as well.

If you plan on running pump gas keep it around 12:1

All depend upon there purpose and use of the car, not just power level. Toda Racing works great for street, circuit purposes, if you have the means and availability.

You're gonna spend some money with TODA cams, valvetrain, timing belt, etc. I mean if it were me, i'd go elsewhere(secret lol). But hey if you dont mind, go ahead.

I've gone through that discussion on my setup from over 6 years ago, and in the end, the determining factor for/against using them was Purpose Of Use. From a "peak power" point of view, yes, there are other options, but for Purpose of Use for Circuit/street, Toda Racing works great even with their age. An M14 Rifle may be older, and there are other options in weapons out there, but you still have soldiers in special operations today, who will still use a 50 year old designed M14... because it just works..

Well I didnt mean that TODA stuff doesnt work, just that its expensive. He could just buy pro2 cams and skunk2 valvetrain for cheaper unless he just wants TODA stuff for quality reasons.
