Re: arp rod bolt installation
As someone mentioned. The rod bolt diameter and different torque values could make the difference in distorting the rods big end.
I remember one set of eagles rods with ARP 5/16" rod bolts (3/8" head) the torque spec was 28 ft/ lbs.
Another set of eagle rods I have came with 3/8" ARP rod bolts (7/16" head) the torque for those are 43 ft lbs.

Re: arp rod bolt installation
I thought they phased out those smaller bolts years back. I know they are out there somewhere still though.
I kinda cant believe how machining or at least checking them is even a debateable topic anymore. its not like we are using hockey pucks for motor mounts and running vafc hacks that was 15 years ago by now lol

Re: arp rod bolt installation
^hmm.. mine are definitely the smaller ARP bolts, I think I did 'em 5 years ago... needless to say I wasn't trying to cheap out or anything, I just thought my method was OK. Time to check everything me thinks.

Yeah the smaller bolt rods I have are probably from 5~6 years ago.
The larger bolt rods I acquired probably about 3 years ago or so. Maybe 4.
But yeah it's something that should definitely be checked in my opinion.
It doesn't take much to screw up when your talking thousandths of an inch.
If I had my vice, I'd go ahead and measure one torqued at different values and report back.
