Default 11.8:1 Or higher Safe?

On a daily driven all motor car would 11.8:1 c/r be safe to drive everyday, given that things are built correctly and i dont rev the crap out of it every light?

I have a gsr in an ek hatch. I am debating between itr pistons or ctr. I know that ctr would bump to like 12.2:1 or higher. I would love to be that high but I dont want to blow anything up. So on 91 oct that would not be safe?

So if i'm able to get 94 octane here in Indy, what is the range of Compression ratios i can achieve? I'm going to throw the Skunk2 stageII cams on here pretty soon.

i am fine on 93/94 with close to 13:1 compression ratio with the PCT'S[ctr pistons].

just get it tuned on 93/94. i do get A TINY bit of pinging at like 2000rpms in 5th gear at WOT. then again who drives like that on a daily basis? its nothing to be worried about. and im not on any engine management either.

basically, if you get engine management and 93 octane, the pinging can be completely dialed out.

I live CA. So pretty much Im screwed and have to run p73 (i think thats what the itr's are) and stay below 11.8:1 than? I cant get a hold of 93 or 94 that easy and 91 oct is already 2.50 a gallon as it is...

You can go bigger then a ITR pistons. I am running them in my street car and have had not problems. I am currently going up to 12:1 and should be fine. Just retard the timing if you need to.

would retarding the timing lower the c/r a bit? Cause i would love to have the most c/r that i could have given the ctr and itr pistons cost the same...

We need to start a petition in CA to oust the shitty gas and get the hook up on some 93/94 octane at the pump. Higher octane means cleaner burning right . The rest of the hippie tree huggers in CA should go for it!

that will never pass. There are way too many socialist bastards in ca for that to ever pass, we have 91oct for a reason. Because ca sucks

i dont think retarting the timing would decrease compression, i think 11.5 cr is as high as you wanna go for cali 91...thats what im soon to be running

this is roughly the max compression for 91 octane.

94 could handle slightly more then 13:1 comp.

to cali gas laws

thing that i find quite odd is that many guys in california make over 220whp on 91 octane. i personally think its bullshit, unless they have enough money to run race gas in a daily driver, which is probably what most guys do out there.

but if you can find 93/94 in cali, you should be good to go with 13:1 comp and decent tuning.

im running daily on 91 in a gsr with itr pistons with stock cams which give me a static comp ratio of 11.7-11.8. no octane boost, no pinging. just advanced the timing and still untuned. soon to have a chipped p28 and b&m fpr next week.
