pro 2.5 cams

Tuned at Mainstream Performance on e85

Good numbers for the setup. Should be real quick...

Did you have to modify the valve reliefs in the type-s pistons to use with those cams?

What is meant by Pro 2.5 cams, do you mean Pro2?

Yes you have to cut them back. What i mean by pro 2.5 is they are "supposed" to be pro2s but have no markings except 9/10 on the lobes, and after we measured them they came out bigger than pro2s but smaller than pro3s, so i just called them pro 2.5 since they are similar lol.

Hoping to do a little testing with some different intake manifold changes to see if i can pick up some power and carry it further.

Yeah try the excessive manifold, it may just match the setup you have. Also try larger throttle body like a 80mm.

Thanks guys, i have looked into the excessive, and im considering it a little later in the year. Right now gonna go with a 74mm TB and a 1 inch spacer on the intake manifold, just to see what difference it makes.

As soon as I can find my Dyno sheet Ill post up a picture of it but...

H22A (stock bottom end, new rings)
balance shaft delete kit
Crower st 2 cams
DC race header (style, not sure if its actually a DC, restrictive none the less)
Stock intake manifold with butterflies removed
Hondata S300

202WHP/157WTQ

This build was thrown together quickly and on a budget. My plan is to pull the engine back out possibly next year and do type S pistons or something similar, ITB intake, a full port/polish/valve job along with port matching, and a 4-1 race header.

nice numbers, interested in that intake setup ... do you have some form of hood scoop setup that rams the air in ?

few reasons...

1-if the graph is any indication of how the intake is performing its pretty poor. peak @ 8200 rpm and noses over hard.

(that's not to say its completely the intakes fault, the header doesn't look ideal either. and port cfm is only listed @ 317.)

2-the tb inlet is facing backwards towards the windshield. so without using a scoop in the shape of a U-turn you wont be able to force any air in there. the intake needs to face forward in order to make more power going down the track.

3-aside from the obvious above, Blades current intake is much better and already ideal for his setup making around 320 peak whp well over 9k and holding it flat to over 10k. that is ideal for a drag application. when you see a graph peaking way early and nosing over hard like the one above its an indication there is a problem somewhere. intake, header or cylinder head.

Blade, go ahead and post your graph so he can see what im talking about...

same size engine + 2mm bore on gas, rocker cam, no dry sump or vac pump.

As I can understand! A propoerly installed cowl induction hood takes advantage of a high pressure area caused by the change in wind direction caused by the windshield

yes the base of the windshield is a high pressure area on most vehicles, but it is not due to the cowl hood nor does the cowl or windshield cause a change in air direction enough to force a large volume of high velocity air back under the hood in a 180 degree angle. the air still builds at the base and flows over the car in all the testing I have seen performed in wind tunnel w/ smoke as visual.

Blade already has a forward facing ram air intake which is dialed into match his setup

seems like Ram air and cowl induction is a good debate there
