my girl's mom has a 2000 RL and the abs light is on. when she bought the car, it was already on and the dealer told her that it was ok. well anyways, i changed her rear brake pads a year ago, and when i was driving her car the other day, the brakes just completely gave out. so after getting it home, her mom moved the car later that night and she said the brakes were fine....i talk to her a little more and find out that shes replaced the rear brakes like 6 months ago. so i took the car to my friends shop and he flushed the brake fluid for me, and he told me that the rear brakes are locking up or something? he told me that i had to replace the slider. i have no idea what a slider is...

could you guys try to diagnose this?

sounds like a brake master failed. the slider he is refering to is the caliper slide pins that are most likely rusted and not moving but that will cause uneven pad wear and not a brake failure but anythings possiable.
